Ok if stats are important this 6ft 2in striker won 70% of his aerial duels last season and almost 70% passing accuracy. Only made 13 starts, I’ve never sseen him play but that tells me he’s used as a battering ram to bring people into play creating space for others rather than a goal scorer and help manage games. Sounds like he’s a mobile Stockley understudy to me which is what we need.

BTW Pope had stats like that at Rotherham and here until Richard’s left and was given the main striker role. The rest is history.

We aren’t signing another 10 goal striker you need to be realistic.Listen to Matt’s interview, we are not shopping for the big expensive brand players. Our budget will not allow  it.

With strickers the only stat that matters is goals

Each position has a different stat that matters most

Look at uche he used to win most his aerial duels and he only got one goal.

55-60 games? Love your optimism emoji6.png

Phil,

This was already discussed in another thread.

Last season, we played 46 League games, 1 FA Cup game, 1 League Cup game, 5 EFL Trophy games = 53 games total (not counting pre-season games).

In the coming 2025-26 season, we only have to do slightly better in one or more of the Cups to move into the 55-60 games range.

Have we offloaded Ojo yet? Would ease our wage bill by a couple of %

maybe he could go to Walsall?!

Is a 10 goal striker that unrealistic? It’s only 1 in 4 games I wouldn’t even say that’s a particularly good record.

For every Pope there is a Ryan Loft and there are plenty more who turn out like Loft than Pope.

Hanlan was out for 11 months not too long ago, got be better options out there surely?

With Stockleys injury record last season I would like a player good enough to start and play as much as Stockley, similar to what we look to be doing at RWB.

Can’t see how a striker will have enough minutes to be 10 goal striker. How many clubs aiming for mid table realistically get 3 striker with 10+ goals.

I’m not saying Hanlan is necessarily an answer, I have no idea, never seen him play but we need an alternative physical presence to Stockley and his stats look like he is that type of player. No idea if we can do better depends on budget.

If a striker is scoring 10+ goals a season he’s not coming here to sit behind Stockley and Tolaj.

I don’t think Its that binary: it depends what job the striker is asked to do especially in modern football.

There's not a lot on there who aren't under contract.

I dont know if this is the norm but a lot of our players seem to be doing a lot of pre season work already off their own back. Refreshing to see.

And get his hat-tricks of relegations with them!

That’s the norm.

They would have been given a fitness programme to adhere too

Can’t count EFL trophy games as we will always play the reserves.

You might see him play a few pre season games to get him in the shop window. He could even stay, after all, he did play league 1 matches last season so has valuable experience against upcoming opponents.

Depends which Ojo we see.  The one where he is bothered and wants to run and play for Vale.  Or the one that can't be bothered and goes through the motions a tad.

Will the fans give him a chance if he stays as well.  Hope he moves on personally.

League One experience of getting relegated.

The lazy arse can absolutely do one

The vast majority of our ‘core signings’ came around this time last year.

Between the 17th of June and the 1st of July, we signed:

- Croasdale

- Stockley

- Hart

- Tolaj

- Amos

 - Hall

I imagine the next fortnight will see similar activity. Players are now back from holidays and will be meeting with clubs.

Totally agree. The fact he lost his place at relegated Shrewsbury tells you everything .

This bloke has a heart the size of a pea when the going gets tough.

We need to offload sharpish.

Any suggestion of a " new Ojo " will be wide of the mark.
