Summer transfer rumours and speculation

Not sure what happened, the player himself said there were discussions but no formal offer about a month ago. The wording of the released list is odd. Touray was clearly offered something and chose to decline. It may just be Stockport were looking to move for someone new as a first choice and any offer would be lower as more of a squad player. I don't think he's been thrown out of the door but equally I don't think Stockport see him as a starter for next season. Stockport clearly see Championship football and automatic promotion the next stage in their development.

Jamie Lindsay has left Bristol Rovers. Jan 24 a deal at Wrexham fell through. He then chose Rovers over Wrexham last summer. With hindsight a very bad decision on his part.

That's what I read too - wonder if Croasdale has been on the phone to him? In the interview, he says he's got a kid on the way and would like to get sorted for reasons of family stability, so maybe someone's come in with an offer on the quiet and he's opted to move on for those reasons.

Where are we playing Rico? (theoretically speaking)

I liked Rico as a sub that could come on and add some tempo and energy in the midfield when needed. Happend a couple of times last season where he could come in and get a goal or assist near the end.

Just let him play, he has the talent.

Depends if he fits the way DM wants to go.

Could be a game changer?

Still only 21, a gamble yes, but has good feet.

Mmmmmmmm....... not sure!

Biggest signing for me this season is the goalkeeper.

We need a solid statement similar when we brought in Jak Alnwick , and you add a strong back up keeper in promotion winning Chris Neal.

Goalkeeping is the least of our worries! Amos is fine.

Who said anything about worries ?

Nor was it a knock on Amos. Not sure if you noticed but we still need another goalkeeper. For me everywhere we have cover for already pretty much ( one more CB and a striker sure but there's player who can fill that role

However there's going to be some top  strikers in league 1 and competition is always healthy especially in the goalkeeping area

This wasn't a dig nor an issue. Just simply an reference to exciting signing we made back a few years ago and showed a statement that we were there too compete with the rest of them

Wasn't any deeper than that my friend

Ahahah dont have the time or inclination to talk about transfers however here you are currently sitting posting on a transfer thread of a FORUM talking about people who are talking about transfers. Think youve got more time on your hands than you think pal.

People talk about rumours on every single club forum in the country. Twitter pages post hundreds of tweets a day on rumours and inside knowledge. I think more people are interested in this kind of thing more than you think. Were 178 pages into this thread and signed one player.

managers are worried about privacy i think youll find that worry is probably more aimed at journalists and spys from other clubs not Gareth having a gander on his morning walk 😂

Can just see it now lee bell in preparation for the derby game sitting in his office with Gareths tweets printed out saying were playing a back 5 with mitch at left back we can use this to gain advantage. You seriously think that would be the case?

Your 5000+ posts deep into ovf aswell so your happy to chew the fat over most things related to vale but transfers is where you draw the line?

I don’t think I mentioned transfers, we’d gone off topic, you were fretting about a random guy who’s going to be spending next season peeping over our lovely new fence so that he can feed you all the latest teams news and training updates, which you say you need to fill your days.

Sometimes it’s no use knocking cuz there’s nobody home, but here goes, I think you’re still missing the point, it’s the manager, also previous managers by the sound of it, that wanted the fence, for reasons which are quite obvious to most.  Clearly, you know better, so rather than waste your time on here why not email the club with your concerns, Gareth may fall off his milk crate.  Feel free to come back and let us all know what they say.👍🏻

I think we all liked Rico's cameos as a substitute.  The issue for his career to develop he needs to go somewhere where he gets more than 20 minutes a game. In terms of talent he's up there with the best I've seen at Vale. He's potentially way better than a league 1 squad player. If we sign him where do we play him? If he has a half decent agent he'll go somewhere where he's seen as a starter. That may be with us but certainly wasn't how he was used last season.

He's a Danny Whittaker conundrum. Whittaker was much better against us than he ever was for us because other teams set up to play to his strengths. Does Moore think he's good enough to play him as a 10 behind two strikers; or a similar formation to Crosby with two 10s?

If Byers can't stay fit , there's a place there already.

I still think if Walters can have great start to the season again , he'll certainly get noticed by bigger clubs. He's got bags of talent and was let down by naivety and a greedy agent.

He can definitely compete for the starting 11 and like you said he just needs the game time to develop

Perhaps he can do the job as the no.10 role behind the striker if we were ever to go that route formation wise.

Good luck to Rico. Luxury player at the moment who might be seen as a risk by many in league 1. Every wage budget penny counts. He'll be an asset to someone in league 2. I'd be after him if I were Walsall. Not good enough for league 1.

I guess with Rico it all depends on if DM rated him enough(as in thought he did enough to warrant a deal),it might also be that the new head scout has a few on his list,it's certainly an interesting time

I would take Collar but he looks like a Garrity type of player and if Oxford are interested then he will have a few suitors i am sure

Agree regards Rico, he’s the ‘devil we know’ which may hold some weight if we’re looking for a player to develop rather than a more experienced/established L1 attacking midfielder/tricky forward.

Are Oxford interested in Collar? I thought that comment was just continuing the joke around shirt references - buttons, ties etc.

Tyler walker about to be a free agent I see.

Looked promising when he was here on loan. Had a fair few injuries which haven't helped over the years

The issue is he isn't the same as Byers, Croasdale,  Garrity or Walters.  You want him on the ball in the opposition third. You look at the Gabriel signing and I think it's pretty certain he'll start with two high wingbacks. He'll then want 3 work horses in central midfield.  He's not really a centreforward,  so where does he fit in. 3 4 2 1 or 3 4 1 1 I can see him playing. We'll start the season 3 5 2, with Stockley and Tolaj.
