He is at risk for it as is the nature of that injury but otherwise has a decent injury record, playing 432 games despite being dropped for much of the last two seasons - meaning he hasn't been ran into the ground recently.

He only received the injury a few years ago and not played too many games since.

Don't let that stop Phil's desire to see the end of the world, a massive tax bill, Stoke winning the Premier League and energy prices going up 600 percent in three days. He won't like facts stopping his day from being brightened.

The only fact is that he has had a knee ligament injury within the last few years that put him out of action. FACT.

He couldn’t get back into the team rather than injury preventing him from playing.

Club told him he could leave Jan but another player got injured and he then went on to play 14 games consecutively in Champ wearing the armband a few times.

His season strangely has a little bit of a parallel with Smudge.

Can someone provide a list of L1-level (or above) players who have been leg injury (ligament, hamstring etc) free in the last few seasons? I suspect there won’t be many - players like Smudge are few and far between and even then he wasn’t seen as high end L1-level by many.

Will be interesting to see if they are as rare as 20 goal a season strikers we can afford.

Smith has had a hamstring injury. Hamstring is no way as bad as knee ligaments and there are plenty of players who have not had a torn ligament in their knee, far more than have.

Is this because he’s not as good since his injury? It’s a tough injury to come back from and pretty well all players who come back from it never stay fit for a whole season. No problem with signing players who had these sort of injuries but we cannot rely on them to be fit for 40 odd games.

The manager replaced him with another player when he got injured. Thats football. He’s played Champ football for the last 2 years as a squad player rather than an integral player . He’s a huge upgrade on our current CB’s who have very limited experience in L1.

I think you’re overplaying his injury and availability to play a season.

Tony Naylor could stop World War Three?

I think he’d need a bit of help from Foyle

Pretty sure the way Phil's posts have gone he'd write off a player for having time off with a broken fingernail.

Does anyone know if gabriel has actually played as a centre back? (i dont make a distinction between rcb ccb or lcb as far as im concerned there are 2 or 3 centre backs the others are full backs or wing backs)

I read on here that sproson says he can play there but has he actually done that anywhere or is it just his agent adding a possible string to his bow?

Personally I was hoping for two proper centre backs not a makeshift one I don't mind players who have some versatility but I usually find they are more stop gap in their secondary role rather than actually being good at it and it seems to me gabriel is a wing back so I am still hoping for a couple of proper centre backs.

He’s described as a right back, I was thinking he has been brought in to challenge Debrah for first team place but could possibly play in the center or right wing back. I hope Debrah isn’t been shifted to the center and Gabriel to the right of him, I think we need 2 very good centre defenders who have experience in playing this position.

Definitely need to see how they respond to a broken nail, Many Genz cannot cope with this.
