Not true. I've seen them both in the same room.

Where’ve you heard that. Sounds absolute rubbish.

He left to be nearer to his family in Cambridge and with Colchester  sniffing he asked to leave.
commute was 5/6 hours to and from vale where as Colchester was 2. Absolutely nothing to do with a bust up with Clarke player even said that himself and he ain’t type of lad that talks out his crack.

It won’t be. The end of Clarkes tenure was an absolute disaster. Unfortunately Darrell had gone off the rails.

Yeah true, but he is a great man. Up the Dazzler.

He went to Colchester because he had the biggest bust up ever with Clarke. He was poor initially and was deservedly dropped. When he came back he did well and we had a run when we didn't concede many. The whole being closer to home had a small element of truth but wasn't the reason he left, one of Hall or Clarke had to go. The wheels literally came off the game after Hall left. I think we were 10th at the time. We conceded 13 goals in his last 15 games in his first stint. We conceded 42 goals in 22 games after he left!

The issue he had was trying to get infront of his forward and getting turned. Looks good when it comes off but it didn't come off ever!

Even tho I know this is absolute trash talk, if it was him or Clarke that had to go as you say? Why would hall even think about coming back to a club that supposedly got shot of him over someone else??? Nobody would!!
just putting 6 an 9 together an getting 91.  bet that flew around the boozer that one.

In the early 60s there were NO substitutes . I remember when they came in as I was still at school .... Was it around 64/65 . Think the first Vale sub might have been Eric Mcgee but not sure on that .

Woops only partially correct - I've just done a sneaky google  - First subs were in the 65/66 season and Vales was Terry Miles .  Eric didnt come till the 69/70 season.  Ah well Not bad for an old git who has seen the Very First Floodlit match at VP , the last Championship and the days before Subs were used .

The bust up with Clarke is absolutely true and without it he'd never have gone. He wasn't the old one either - only what I heard but from someone with no reason to lie or make stories up. The club supported DC as much as they possibly could probably to the detriment of the club/team as a whole but these were unprecedented circumstances after the terrible trauma DC suffered - In hindsight DC was never going to get back to some form of normality whilst remaining at the club he was at when the personal tragedy struck.

Although we know Curtis can play up top(I aren't sure that's where DM sees him playing long term) in reality we have Tolaj/Stockley and Paton as our current strikers,I really dont think Paton's future is at Vale(obviously could be wrong) so for me we are going to need at least 2 strikers to come in if DM wants to carry on with 2 up front(which i am sure the majority of us would like)

Now this isn't a knock in the slightest, as I think he is a great player to have in the squad, but im actually at a loss as to what Ronans "proper" position is

Unlike Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson,  obviously before he passed away !!!

He was primarily a left winger though now hasn't out and out pace.

I'd say he hasn't a position as such

However he's a great football brain and can pick a pass.

Can play wide, as a 10 or up top.

Great player.

I would actually like to see him play as a 10 as i think he could be more affective in that role

Interesting interview with Phil Sproson (Gabriel’s agent) about how he came to sign here. Saw off competition from 6 other clubs and finally down to us and a “well established L1 club” and he chose us. Positive sign we are not just looking to make up the numbers next season.
