Bowers says we beat 3-4 other clubs to sign him and Moore was a big factor.

I think they’ve just gone early with it as the media team will be tied up at the kit launch all day and then be off tomorrow.

I did see something online yesterday that McGowan was leaving Northampton because he was signing for Burton. Weren't Burton one of the clubs mentioned to be after Gabriel? Maybe a bit of a chain reaction.  Very strange time to announce a signing. Certainly a good addition on paper.

Excellent first signing putting down a marker to other clubs that next season we ain’t gonna just be making up the numbers. More to come soon I think but this is a very good start. A wingback pairing of Headley and Gabriel is going to give a few defences summat to think about.

Maybe Moore sees John or Gabriel more as a RCB? 

I'd be gutted if Mitch left. When he's fit, you won't find a better RWB. 

Mitch Clark has literally, in the last 20 minutes since the Gabriel signing, removed all the Vale pictures from his Twitter profile.

It previously had him celebrating promotion in both the profile and header but that’s all gone.

Would pretty much confirm he’s going.

Decent signing on paper, and he brings a lot of experience from higher divisions.

I was reading that Oxford had a few bids knocked back for him last summer when they went up to the Championship. Last season clearly didn’t go to plan for Gabriel, though.

Beating 3 or 4 other clubs to his signature just shows Moore’s pulling power again. Going to be a really interesting summer.

Possibly, although Moore seems quite comfortable with a fullback as one of the back 3. Mitch initially signed for us as a right sided centrehalf and John is pretty solid playing in that position.

He was one of thr bigger names on the release lists from league 1 not over 30. You'd expect most managers playing with wingbacks would certainly have thought about him.

Great signing. I hear we beat Charlton to sign him. Rumour is Forest paid £400k for him just a few years ago.
