Port Vale v Walsall match thread - Dec 7th

Featured Replies

Quick post before going sleep .

It seems most Stoke fans are very interested in this game in fact big stoke fan at work says on there message board some fans saying going watch the Vale game and not there own game sat .

I'd suggest if they that interested why don't they get a  ticket for the away end cause once word gets out that they are in the away end Vale will come out for sure 100 per cent .

If I'm totally honest I'm not sold on either Hart or Hennegan. I certainly think we have better options anyway.

Sam Hart done well for me before his injury & looked more than good enough since his return but all opinions , Heneghan is definitely effective coming on to defend a lead with a lot of balls coming into our box but he wouldn’t be starting many games for me either

Been excellent in the back three role 👌🏻 I have a sneaky feeling Byers will be back for this one. If not I’d stick Harper in or Chiz who I quite like in the middle alongside a defensive minded player. Also, I’ll be a tad disappointed if thats not our front three.

Has to be. Paton and Curtis transformed the game ,even without the equaliser they both did enough.

You'd hope and expect that's enough to get the nod.

100% on hennegan, should only be coming on with 20 mins to go when we're 1-0 up. Otherwise he's a bomb scare.

Harts alright, but John Cover Shorrock Clark (when fit) and maybe even Sang are better options for me at wingback

Cos of the keeper and Lowe , hopefully a few tune in and after the keeper let's a few in and Lowe is anonymous they'll have their weekend ruined, plus Lard are unlikely to get much at Sunderland.

My team for sat .

   Ripley

Sang Hall Hart

Cover Croasdale Byers (Harper don't get sent off again,or Chizzy )Curtis

Rico  Tolaj  Paton

I'm sticking with Tolaj we all have games where we have off games, but come sat he is going have a game where everything goes right was in right place head wide from Smiths cross (the only good think Smith did in that game couldn't even pass the ball 5 yrds generally).

I'm more worried about Stockley 's downturn in his overall excellence but from bench he be fine .

On the floor with top movement from.Paton will make Tolaj have a top game maybe score a  few .

I saw enough in last 15 other night to see a lovely footballing connection happening between Hart Curtis Chislett and Paton so keep them connections forming and delight the massive home crowd

I know I'm looking forwards to seeing them both .

Full respect to them on there position in league but we are top dogs (boomer )and come sat hopefully Simkin has a very busy afternoon if he does that means Vale have played well .

As for Lowe obviously too good for league 2, but if we are on the front foot even if  he  scores as long as Vale score more than them then happy days

Hart so far as been decent, wasn't great v Doncaster but that was more the set up but was outstanding v Crewe, I wasn't too chuffed with his signing but has done well so far.

Heneghan for me is suitable for a certain type of game, for example Accrington away he should of been first name on the team sheet and we probably don't go 2 down by HT in that one with him on.

If playing a dynamic footballing side going forward then he is not ideal until late on when we are likely defending it out and dealing with crosses and long balls as teams try and force it.

So for me in the right type of game Heneghan is an outstanding player, but in the wrong type he can be exposed. If a team is going to sling long balls or crosses in for 90 then he is perfect.

Be interesting to see what happens with Lowe, expect he will get recalled and then Walsall have a problem to solve in January like we did with Blaster and Devine which isn't easy. As we full well know thats the huge downside of reliance on Loanee's and may see them struggle to keep the pace in a month's time. Would imagine he goes to either play for Stoke or will be wanted by L1 clubs on loan like a Peterborough.

Season long loans rarely happen as if the player is good he gets recalled and sent higher and if he isn't good the club sends them back!

Henegan is quality he blocks shots just stands there and blocks everything, heads everything too can be poor on ball at times but overall he is what's required and as been for a long time at the back .

Brilliant player 👏

I agree with you about Tolaj, didn't work out as well as I would have liked last week but he's still one of my favourites in the present team.

I wouldn’t be playing Curtis as wing back but apart from that it’s one of the best line ups I’ve seen you post. Up the Vale mate!

My worry is we’ll see roughly the same team that started the Crewe game, Harper in the middle and Hackford coming on later.
I thought Chislett, Sang and Croasdale all pottering around in the same area was a mess on Tuesday.

Looks like Saturday could be quite a rough day weather wise

Just a guess I’d say 10.30am. Isn’t it opened from 12-3 on a usual Saturday game mate? Can’t see it being a 3 hour window with an early kick off though but I’m sure it’ll be posted by the club tomorrow at some point

As others have noted, the weather forecast isn’t great for Saturday so rather than spending all morning in the fanzone I may have to reassess and wedge myself in the Bulls or wherever.  We’ll see.
