If we don't replace him it's another player taken out of an already thin squad. Artell is probably better than McDonald and Owen, so losing him could be quite costly if don't sign someone else. I'd rather sign Purcell or Dickinson with his wages, but I don't know whether their arrivals would be reliant on a departure.

We still have five centre halves! If we can get a new owner soon this will be good news as we can spend his wage on what we needed all along (left back and striker). Was silly to have so may players in one position when other areas were weak anyway.

All the other players are signing, so no great loss with the number of centre backs we have. It may pave the way for another signing and i bet Micky will be badgering Bob Young to use the Artell wages on another player.

Its up to the fans now to get to Vale Park and show Young and any potential bidder that we have a future. From what i saw today there is the making of a decent side. Lets give those players that have signed and are willing back Micky, our full support.

I think that centre back is one area where we are well covered. Personally, I like the look of Joe Davies so if it means that he will play more regularly then I'm all for it. Still need a left back and a forward but pretty sure we won't be allowed to sign anyone until we exit admin. If we don't do this by the transfer dealine then the loan market is our fall back position. (Assuming we ever manage to exit administration of course!)

Out of all the players we could have lost, Artells departure will cause us the least problems.

 

There was no guarantee he'd have made the first-team anyway if McCombe and Owen stay fit.
