Thrown his backing behind Adams and the club in these terbalent times

A true gentleman and a great Manager for the club, assembling a quality team in the 2000/2001 season. I recall him being familiarly hounded out by fans.

Thanks Brian, hindsight's a funny old thing, how I wish you'd have stayed!

Once again your memory has let you down yesterday you blamed the fans for the Vales demise and today you are doing the same.....to help you I think you will find that Bratt thought that Foyle was a better and more importantly a cheaper option, but hey ho dont let the facts get in the way of you attacking the lifeblood of the club ......The supporters.

Good comments from Horton I have alot of respect for him.

However, your comments are wrong, if you look in this quote 'However, it was no secret that Horton and then chairman Bill Bratt did not get along and the manager was told he would not be awarded a new contract, despite leading the club to the brink of the play-offs. He left with the club in seventh in February 2004' read the story again. It looks like it was Bill Bratts fault.

Many people fail to remember that Horton took the reins at a very difficult time but he staved off relegation in his first season. During his reign he built two good teams the LDV winning side which if Bell had left it alone would have walked promotion the following season.

Then two years later he built another team which would have at least got in the play offs if Bratt had given him an ounce of support which he didn't.

Bratt wanted Youth coach Foyle on the back of one good Youth Cup run. What a Walley Bratt was then and over the next 8 years of pain.

Brian Horton was a good competent manager. His record says that!

At the time, all the Vale fans I knew (including myself) were pretty pleased that Horton hadn't been given a new contract. He suffered in comparison with Rudgie; he wasn't as good a manager, as likeable a man or as shrewd in the transfer market. Additionally, he bore the brunt of a lot of the suspicion that the fans had for W T Bell.
