Match thread: Salford City v Port Vale, 10th August

Featured Replies

We are fighting and scrapping, which is great to see! Not loads of quality, but obviously it will take time to gel and we have different options on the bench and still to come into the team. Better than this time last year, so I’ll take it 😄

Totally agree mate he is slowing the game down far to much

Decent half now we are leading

loads of fight in us which is good to see

Amother goal then we can go for a pint

How did we line up … particularly Sang & Garrity. Sorry to ask but I’m in Denver at the moment and just following the OVF site.

Commentators have summed Vale up perfectly, bigger side with more aggression than last season but not pretty.

We're gonna score a lot more goals from set pieces than last season.

Impressed with Patton, Tolaj, Curtis and Hart, lovely pass by Paton to put Tolaj through, Salford player lucky to still be on the pitch. Croasdale quietly effective.

Both wingbacks have been tidy. Croasdale done a lot of good work. Garrity exactly what you'd expect. Paton is a nuisance and Tolaj has shown some neat touches.

Can anybody post a replay of the goal? I thought Paton scored at the back post?

Positives: Good to see some height in our team and that means we can threaten from corners for a change! Negatives: Still giving the ball away far too often.  Early days but certainly an improvement on last season!

I'm liking Paton, he looks as though he will become a firm favorite. Loads of aggression and enthusiasm.

Much better attitude and display of effort from every player out there so far. We look a completely different outfit to last season. DM's clearly done good work putting last season behind the team and bringing in some promising additions that make a difference already.

North Wales with the gogs.....argh same thing 🤣🤣🤣

"it's the vale fans you can hear at the moment" great noise guys

Arblaster in the away end

I think with Tolaj he loves those sort of little flicks round the corner. Once this team builds up an understanding that is going to become really effective.

Looks like a double sub incoming.
