Match thread: Salford City v Port Vale, 10th August

Know for a neutral they wouldn’t have enjoyed that but from a Vale perspective in the context of what we saw last season this is  ten times better.

This Vale team has a bit of an edge about it and I love it.

Well done lads. Look a far stronger side than these. We’re going to be a danger off every set piece which is a nice change. Paton looks a tidy player, love his attitude, been quite impressed with Hart as well

This ref is absolutely <ovf censored>.

THIS is my only worry watching it live, he's gone card MAD.... 👍😬

First 15 was poor but we grew into it and clearly have a better side, even without key players. Hope we don't sit back now in the second. Get after them and get that second goal.

Was worried when we saw Sang on the starting line up like many fans, but Moore and Co have found Sang's ability and is now getting a new modified Sang on the pitch.  He has played well.

The whole team has more fight in them and characters who are not afraid to niggle the opposition.

Come on Vale - keep it up.

I'll happily wager this will NOT finish 7-0!!✓✓

It took a while to get going, we look like we still need to gel, and lack a bit of sharpness. That is all the bad out of the way.

We seem to have plenty of ball winners and fighters in there willing to win the ball back. When we had the ball and tried the flicks and passes down the the inside channels it was a breath of fresh air compared to that sideways tippy tappy muck dished up last season.

Once we settle into the season I think we will do really well. Tolaj took a while to get into it then his sprint from nowhere caused a huge problem for them. I thought a sending off for them would be harsh there. Likewise our tackles when we won the ball that were penalised were harsh. Loving the fight. Keep it up.

Happy days ahead.

It’s not just the cards. Every contact is a foul for some reason. He can’t wait to use his whistle, it must be new.

I’ll go for 0-7 … 🙂

Pleased with that. Shaky start but grown into it and currently look better than them, certainly offensively.

Really like the look of Hart, Croasdale, Tolaj and Paton. Sang had a very good game too, as has Debrah, for all their detractors. Lots more aggression in this side, which is pleasing to see.

Red card all day for me that challenge on Tolaj. Clearly the last man. As others have said, ref bottled it. 2 of our yellows were great tackles as well, particularly Garritys.
