Though the announcement was at 5 yesterday for John, was he signed before noon? Sorry if his eligibility was in the details of the announcement (which I haven’t seen), but a player has to be signed by noon the day before they are eligible to play.

I'd be a little surprised if he wasn't signed in time. It wasn't like he needed showing around the club or needed to look at things like accommodation. He may even start, although I thing Sang will. Announcing it at 5pm leaves Salford guessing and they won't know an awful lot more than I do (pretty much nothing) about what type of player he is. He's been hidden from the friendlies that were open to supporters,  which Salford would certainly have watched. I suspect this deal has been agreed for some time. He will have an agent and his agent would have got him a trial somewhere else if he wasn't very confident we'd sign him. He may not have played for Everton but he was close enough to the team for a lot of managers to be prepared to give him a trial. The centrehalf from Huddersfield is much lower profile and realistically only a player clubs would look to develop. We are, probably,  his only option due to his connection with Moore. We'll know at 1400.

From pictures looks very similar to the Pirelli (Burton) and a few other clubs that have only been league clubs in their recent (last 15/20 years) history and built identikit stadia to meet league standards (Accrington, Fleetwood, Stevenage etc).

Would rather have the Burton ground from Parking to away end facilties. The ground is real non league.

I don't think Salford will be up to much. 0-0.

Vale to keep a clean sheet is the big call going from the last few years. Would be something to build from for sure.

Anyone who has been to the Peninsula stadium before, does the standing section of the away end have a roof?

Also, where’s everyone heading for the pre match pint?

Tarpaulin sheet held together with gaffer tape 🤔🤣

The most basic argument of all--keep a clean sheet and you don't lose. Unfortunately that's a slightly negative approach and I do hope we shall see a few more goals scored this season and a few exciting matches to view at Vale park.  UTV!

I do feel we are going to be the sort of team who are going to need to score a couple of times to win a game with our defending. Be a great addition for anyone who likes betting BTTS at least.

Matchday! It’s felt like an absolute age since I said that even with the Euro’s & Olympics, off to Blackpool with the rugrats for a few days. Safe journey to all the travelling Valiants. Be loud, be proud & hopefully bring back a point or 3! Away Awayyyyyyy ️

Vtid

I'm in Blackpool for a break with the family. Get there Sunday so if you fancy a pint or 2 let me know

Now to the serious point UTV and a win today will be a perfect start

Would love Vale to keep a clean sheet today; would also love to see us be a bit nasty and aggressive.  No more Nice Vale.

If we came away with three points i'd be over the moon; a good positive performance and "at it" from minute 1.  Having said that i'd take a point.

UTV!

No Mr nice Vale. Time to be ruthless and blow them away from the off. No excuses Rochdale scored five past them last week.

Having watched us a couple of times this week I think I have a good idea how we will setup today so I’m not going to predict lineup and formation  but one thing I will say from the training sessions is our defence looks well drilled and much better at dealing with balls in the box. We also look quite a big team in height at the back and well equipped to deal with an aerial bombardment especially when Stockley plays.

Also Ripley made some unbelievable saves yesterday… I mean really unbelievable. He looks like he’s lost a bit of weight and his reactions to getting down low were incredible.

Hopefully I’ve not put the kiss of death on it but I have no concerns about our defence from what I’ve seen this week.

I don't think Chislett and Moore are getting on.

He’s dealing with an injury mate.
