Hi KV

I'm not an accountant by a long stretch.

My understanding of the AVM money is that upon presentation of copy invoices from the club's suppliers / contractors, AVM would then reimburse the community trust for works already carried out. No grant money should have been paid up front.

In that case, should there be any restricted funds on the accounts?

Hi Santa,

From an accounting point of view its up to AWM. In this case they did provide the funding up front and a vast majority of the work has been done. I myself am only part qualified so in this case I will defer to the Accountants and their annual report to the Trustees.

The trust might be independent but as long as Mike Lloyd in involved then Ryder can have nothing to do with them therefore the trust must get rid of Lloyd if the trust is to move forward.

Hi BA,

I'm not sure that anyone should be making demands of the potential savour of the club and whilst he has made statements with regard to the "NewCo" the board of Trustee's will decide on the future direction of the Trust, not individuals here or elsewhere.

I do sometimes wonder why people are trying to find a negative in what should be a positive time for both Port Vale and its independent Trust.

PS Should any of you be able to offer skills to move the Trust forward on a voluntary basis please PM me at your convenience.

May I introduce myself I am the Community Trust Manager at Port Vale FC a role I have performed for 20 years now, I have read with interest all the comments relating to this thread and felt compelled to add to the debate. Regarding the community building extension (new gym) this project has rolled on far too long and is a constant frustration to me, however I intend to access the required funding this year to complete the project so that everyone benefits particularly the many disadvantaged groups who visit us on a weekly basis to take part in sport/exercise and socialisation sessions.

The extension was never intended to be where it is and drawings were made to take the existing building forward on one level towards the main road to provide flexible space for education, coffee morning, residents meetings etc however our former chairman BB intercepted this plan and had his own drawings to take the building sideways, when I insisted that insufficient funds were available to do this because of the drop on the side of the building he insisted that he could do xy and z to complete the project, reluctantly because of his background in property development I accepted ( although I had no choice anyway).

You may draw your own conclusions as to why he wanted to go sideways........when the funding ran out the official line was that the site needed more piling than was initially expected, he then walked away and left me with a building site.

Regarding CW the site the lease is owned by the Trust for 25 years, we intend to develop the site for community recreation purposes however our well meaning intentions were derailed by our former chairman BB and his able assistant GM, after twelve months of planning by me. Several professionals including Bill Chetwynd (Vale Youth Development) the club Physio, the FA, Scott Lawton (Local Boxer) the architects made a value contribution to the overall design and planning of the facilities, I attended a meeting at the Civic Centre with City Council representatives to try and gain their blessing and avoid wasting valuable time further down the road.

Before attending the meeting I asked our former chairman BB to accompany me as a representative of the club, he declined because he said his diary would not allow him to and suggested I went on my own, the outcome of the meeting was that the council overwhelmingly gave their blessing to our proposals and it was shortly after this that BB and GM began to have meeting behind my back although people were ringing me out of loyalty to update me about their plans.....on one occasion the architects rang me to tell me that BB had scrapped all the drawings that myself and all the other stakeholders had agreed and that he submitted his own version of what the building and outside recreations would look like.

The outcome of all this skullduggery is that in more than twelve months of my absence (20 meetings in total without my attendance) no further progress has been made on the site and that it was used as a pawn in a game intended to attract new owners to the club which we all know failed miserably.

The CW project came about following a chance conversation between myself and a CISWO representative at a staffs fa meeting and that is why I was the driving force behind the project, as for the future my current priority is to complete the building site that is the community extension then focus on cw after consulting with KR about his plans for the club and the community trust.

I apologise that this response ended up a bit like War and Peace but felt that I needed to fully inform you something I have been unable to do while the previous owners were still in situ, my relationship with the Vale fans has always been a good one and in fact I developed many of the mid to late twenties supporters during the halycon days of the early nineties through my soccer schools.

I hope this has been a useful read and you can be assured that whatever problems the club experience we are still providing a positive image of the football club through the many and varied activities we deliver to the communities of north staffordshire and south and east cheshire.

Thanks for the insight, just goes to prove what a fool and unsavoury character our previous chair was, despite his public personna at that time, thank god we eventually got rid

Would be good to get an interview with him on RS in Sentinel.Ask him questions about this and see, listen to what BS he tries to spin, who he would try to blame.

The bit about his able assistant GM gave me a little chuckle.GM .

Well there you have it ... Straight from the Dog Handler's mouth ...

I hope that you can all see just what we've had to put up with over the last decade (That's just one example) and support us to move the Trust forward in the next 12 months ...

If there are more would it would have been a good idea to let us know during the protests as it could have helped end their power trip earlier. But would still be good to hear later on.As for supporting you,I'm in.

I have a copy of the accounts but they dont tell me which property the improvements are to. Certainly not in note 6 . Are you concerned by note 12?

What about Mike Lloyd? As KR promised that no former directors would be involved in any way, surely the club can have no dealings with the trust?

Hi Fairportnick ...

The Trust only holds one "physical" property, that of The Office, Gym's [One is a work in progress] and Classroom's and this should not be confused with the leased area of Chat Whit. Therefore the Leasehold Improvements or in this case an actual depreciation of the Asset is the building from which we operate.

As for Note 12, I have no concerns at all. If I was in AWM's position and I was giving away that sum of money I'd want to make sure that it was kept within a Restricted Fund and then safeguarded for the use of that money for the foreseeable future. It is standard practice for any Grant Provider.

As for your second question, can I again stress that the Trust is INDEPENDENT of Port Vale Football Club and as such directors, be they former, present or future would have no influence of the "NewCo" via the Trust. It is my aim that My Ryder and hopefully a couple of future Directors / Senior Officers, join the Trust so that we can both work together for the betterment of the local Community but I'm sure you'll understand that I can't talk on behalf of any individual especially on a subject such as this.

I know that this is not what people want to hear, but hopefully when the future of the Club is finally resolved and Mr Ryder takes the reins the Trust can also move forward.

I'm sorry KV, but just because the Trust is INDEPENDENT of PVFC, it does not make any difference when considering whether ML's involvement is beneficial to the cause.

If you want to work in unison with the club, for the COMMUNITY, then it would be an ill advised an absolute foolish move to include a former PVFC director that was partly responsible for the resulting administration and indeed, the near liquidation of the Football Club that is held firmly in the hearts of the COMMUNITY you serve.

If you think that all will be forgotten re : ML or indeed any other former part of the PVFC downfall, then you are the wrong man for the job.

No offense, but wake the hell up!

My understanding of the Advantage West Midlands grant is that:

£217k was utilised to build the shell of the gym on the Hamil Road car park

All funding was defrayed by 31st March 2007.

AVM no longer exists.

Eligible expenditure was reimbursed upon receipt of valid copy invoices from Port Vale Football Club.

Which means that no funding should have been given to the club/community trust up front, and if the accounts show that it has been, then something smells.
