In the 2022 promotion season we brought in 15 players in the summer window. Opening 10 - W5 D3. I'm hoping we can replicate that by way of doing most of our business reasonably early, I mean we've brought in 10 players you could describe all day as starters (Some would reasonably disagree about Paton but 44 goals in 2 seasons is a very strong record) before we've played our first proper friendly against EFL opposition (Cov being unannounced and  behind closed doors on a university pitch)

Very unlike the idiocy of recent seasons where the likes of Harrison, Loft, Uche and Butterworth weren't signed until several games in, Uche wasn't signed until October for example, meaning we started against Fleetwood in 22/23 with McDermott up front and then got beat 4-0 at Exeter because our only sub options was to try and play Tom Pett up there.

I disagree with your statement.

The club have made next season exciting again for people to go.

If the club would have done nothing and not made all these brilliant new signings, then we would have had a problem with people buying season tickets and buying things from the club shop etc.

Well done to everybody at the club for getting the buzz back for everybody

Staggering your last paragraph that that actually happened. Really poor on our part.

Staggering that it was allowed to happen repeatedly!

Without question the comitment shown by the club to right the wrongs , have persuaded people to renew! My self included because after last seasons dross I questioned my comitment. I am still amazed at the signings,  just hope they quickly gel and we can start to enjoy football again.

Nathan Smith is being rumoured apparently by Cambridge fans.

Hmm. Would be sad to see Smith go. Been a great servant and always given his all.

Hopefully it’s nonsense. If it’s true, we need another centre half in the door. Debrah, Jones & Lowe as back up is frightening 

You watch, Smith will go Cambridge, they’ll have a blinding season keeping most clean sheets and being top goalscorers.

They paid us for Ryan Loft mate 😂 it wouldn’t be a huge suprise 

I saw enough in Debrah early doors to think there might be in player in there. I think with him, like a few others, his confidence had gone in the end. I don’t think we can really read anything into Feb 24 onwards, Moore must have been told it was a ‘free hit’ so why wouldn’t you try every formation imaginable with the shower we had?

No excuses this year mind.

I’m ok with Debs as a back up to Heneghan & Hall. Along with Smith that’s a decent enough 4 centre halves for league 2. If Smith goes your then looking at Jones or Lowe so definitely would need replacing for me

Nath lives locally where he's from, has a kid in school here and two more about to be born, has an academy business and a house. Cambridge would be a near 300 mile return commute unless he uprooted all that.

All footballers have children who attend a local school, all have a house. The only thing on that list is maybe his academy business but even so if a move to a club in a higher league become available it may tempt him. Let’s face it if Chelsea came knocking I don’t think he’d think twice about his business 😅 Players are always moving from one club to another & all over the shop
