Nath lives locally where he's from, has a kid in school here and two more about to be born, has an academy business and a house. Cambridge would be a near 300 mile return commute unless he uprooted all that.

No idea if true but mentioned by Cambridge fans on Onefootballforum asking for opinions on him.

All footballers have children who attend a local school, all have a house. The only thing on that list is maybe his academy business but even so if a move to a club in a higher league become available it may tempt him. Let’s face it if Chelsea came knocking I don’t think he’d think twice about his business 😅 Players are always moving from one club to another & all over the shop

Maybe if they offer him a ridiculously long deal but if we didn't get relegated it'd be a downgrade. He's likely to get another promotion on the CV this season, and potentially the financial rewards that come with that. We might not renew his deal next summer if we went up but he'd have a great chance of getting more money at that point from a L2 side who are after a repeat promotion winner who never misses a game and would still only be 29.

Nathan Smith is being rumoured apparently by Cambridge fans.

That will be @Dipepa delight going on their fans forum and telling them that Smudge is on his way

Please accept my apologies, Phil, sorry I mean @Dipepa delight

I will leave the 3 of you alone now

Quite relaxed about Smith.

If he stays, we have a pretty dependable CB who we know can do it in League 2.

If he goes, we likely get a fee for a 28 yo CB who isn't going to get any better and has one year on his deal - and someone we know we'd perhaps have to jettison if we did go up.

It does create a need for another 'head it kick it' CB.

Or someone with a bit of pace maybe.

I’d be unhappy myself.  His strengths are better suited to league 2 and in my opinion he’ll be one of the best defenders at this level.

I agree. I think this late in the day it's an unnecessary palaver to sign a replacement. He's more than adequate for League 2.

Even if Heneghan and Hall get the nod if we go 4 at the back, I'd still expect Smith to play 25 plus games.

Hi folks - this is a transfer rumours thread. A few threads recently have moved onto ticketing.

If you want to discuss ticketing please post it on the relevant thread -

I know a lot of you come on and read the top, most popular thread but that doesn't mean that thread is a "everything goes" Vale thread. This is supposed to be about transfers and rumours. If you want to discuss anything else either select a relevant thread or start a new one.

By doing that, it means content is relatively structured and someone who wants to read rumours knows where to go, confident that they won't have to scroll through loads of unrelated posts.

Thanks!

Dont worry Rob I have made a note of all their names 🙂

Just heard from someone (not Gareth) who is at the ground that Smith was there but not training. He is doing Gym work with Byers, Dipepa and Grant.

Yes Smith has been injured so has been getting fit away from the others it seems
