Yak going, Grant and lowe next emoji1696.png

I can see Lowe staying which is be OK with.

DM appears to value experience and he’s versatile enough to play emergency RB,CB and CM, especially away from home on tight pitches.

Will be a decent player in the Pizza games too with our youngsters.

The Daily Record who broke the Paton news are now running the Iacovitti story as an exclusive

I mean, considering we got money for Loft of all players, what could we get for the Yak if we're playing two clubs off against each other? 😀

"Star" is stretching it a bit

Glad the last game is at home so we haven't got to wear highlighter pens to lift the trophy in.

100 and odd points might see us win it at Walsall 😉Screenshot_20240715_212111_Chrome2.thumb.jpg.5cbb8f3421ec4e989e0d5aa490bc338a.jpg

His enthusiasm will make him  a fan favourite - you could tell it was there, and he can't wait to score for the Vale!

One thing it looks like we'll miss in the squad is height. Look through the likely first X1 and only Ripley and Hall are over six feet (unless I'm mistaken), which could be a significant disadvantage against the bruisers of League 2 (even Amos is, I think, under six feet).

Can't see Dazza liking that very much and my guess is we'll see a suitable CB signing incoming sooner or later.

Unless, he has in mind starting with Debra?

Our lack of height was quite obvious at Newcastle, and that was with Loft on the pitch who was one of our tallest players.  The likes of Swindon have signed a load of giants and we have to be able to compete with these teams.

At the end of last season I really mulled over whether I would renew my st, I’d missed the last 3 home games because work had rostered me across them and performances were so abject and the lorne street was so toxic I couldn’t stomach the energy to negotiate a shift switch or give the shift up and lose the £. I kept the faith because of chats I had with cs back in 2021 when I returned to attending vale park. I’m delighted with the business we’ve done so far. As another poster has put, i think dm must be putting a spell on folks to be getting a fee for loft and a bidding war for yak. I can’t wait for the new season bring on Salford!

Fair play for renewing, apart from anything else it ain’t cheap these days.  To be fair I think you should buy your boss a cake for making you work instead of attending those last 3 games.  Why not move from Lorne Street, it always was full of the biggest moaners?  Some people need to take a long hard look at themselves after some of the vitriol spewed at Carol last season but those individuals will have forgotten all that as they’re busy tossing off now over our current spending spree.

I wouldn’t read too much into the “bidding war” headline, it’s Yak not Dipepa we’re talking about here so it’s likely to be how many deep fried mars bars Hibs, or whoever, are willing to offer.

Some photo this is!!! 👌🏻 Wonder if the next one is a centre half who can get anywhere near the size of Big Dave 💪🏻

My guess and it's only that as all are undisclosed that you have slightly under estimated what we have spent

Stockley - we can only guess on but you would think 50-80k wouldn't you?

Tolaj - Just going off what the guy who worked at the club said,he said his clause was 200-250k

Paton - rumoured to be 150k

Hall - They said it was an offer they couldn't turn down so again at a guess 50-80k maybe

What it does show because like i said we are all guessing on fees is how well Carol and Kevin have backed DM this window and that's without wages

Stockley was probably over 100k. I think Fleetwood paid 150 to 200k when they signed him from Charlton 18 months ago.

Didn't Swanny rock up as a centre forward at first ? Who was about as prolific as Uche and Loft but then turned into a great defender?

He was a defender who could also play centreforward.  He left Hull to sign for us because the Hull manager at the time wouldn't play him at centrehalf and insisted he played as a centreforward.  A little like the Dean Glover signing; Glover left Middlesbrough because Rudge promised to play him in the middle, whereas Middlesbrough's manager would only play him at leftback or holding midfield. Not sure how Swann would fair in modern football as he wasn't very mobile and got sent off pretty frequently in an age when players got away with a lot more. If he played the same way he did during his career he would have been red carded 4 or 5 times a season now. A good player in the era when he played. Still haven't read his book but I believe it is a good read.

Lowe had agreed to sign for Carlisle when Vale offered him a contract.  Simpson was gutted at the time.
