Exeter got Millenic Alli from Halifax in the window and he scored twice against us. There are good strikers in the National League.

Who needs a striker, oh yes we do and have done for 18 months. If only we had known.

A good resource for looking at players who we have no clue about, I certainly don’t when I see most names mentioned on here, is an app called FOTMOB. It gives you rating for players based on their contributions during a game. Well worth checking out because it gives their career stats and previous game stats too.

A good starting pointPV1973. Being Old School I kinda like the idea of an experienced scout going to watch them too.

Wasn't he on berserk money in League one ?

No way he's dropping to League 2 at his age.

Be another Dwight Gayle scenario with people believing we have a chance.

Sat next to a Sheff Wed fan on a plane who told me he was on £27k a week.

We need to find that striker who will turn into a Paul Mullin in League Two for us 🙂 easy isn't it. Matt Smith scored a lot of goals for Salford when he dropped down from Millwall to them, not saying go for him but if we do change the wage structure to get in a striker maybe one who will drop down could do the trick also?

I know it's costly signing a goal scoring striker, you know the "real deal" but what did Uche and Loft combined cost ?  Probably the same only with no goals .

I've made a promise to myself not to check this thread several times per week over the course of the summer! I'm going to take a complete break from all things Vale over the summer & reset for next season.

My hopes for the summer, we somehow manage to keep hold of Garrity & Chislett. Ripley sticks around for another season. We sign a completely new squad including strikers & actual wing backs. The young lads stick about for another year. I'm sure lots of that stuff won't happen, but let's see.

Have a great summer everybody & see you on the other side! Try to stick with the club. We're all Vale aren't we. 😊

Just out of interest has Cass been playing lately at Stockport?

I always rated Cassy , he's got good pace and would be a good fit in league 2 imo

My thought is would Darren Moore come to vale  if we weren’t going to have a competitive league budget tied in to his 5 year contract? We taken a risk with Moore , but Moore professionally has take a huge risk taking a league 2 bound club on . I expect the budget to be top 6

The trap I won't fall into again. Is that oh they played for last seasons title winners. Great signing.

Massey ,Wigan .

Grant, Plymouth .

Think someone had suggested before , let's raid Harrogate, Morecambe etc for their gems. And yes they do have some.

Hungry players not crocks and players on a downward trajectory.

I’d prefer Micheal Smith on the end of crosses from Jack Shorrock and James Plant.

I’ve seen nothing to suggest their deliveries would land anywhere near him 😂 one thing that needs to improve from the pair of them is their end product

Hi Barry. Come and help me start the Port Vale rebuild.

Just the 22 grand a week pay drop. You'll be fine.

Let's scratch him from our forums and await new ridiculous suggestions .

More chance of getting Devine back than Bannan and neither will happen

But that is no surprise anyone can score against us most of the time due to our ever giving defence and midfield.  🤣.

Agree there are little gems in the non-league, but you just have to have the network to find them.  Did Fraudcroft even consider those leagues.

Yes, you need the network to get chapter and verse on them but, as a starting point, the headlines are easy to find. Shortlisted for the Non-League Golden boot (in addition to the ones I listed in an earlier post) are Joe Taylor (Ramsgate, 40 goals), Dawid Rogalski (Marlow, 34 goals), Jake Reed (Lowestoft, 32 goals) and Marcus Wylie (Enfield, 33 goals). Enfield also have Sam Young on 27 goals, making a very effective partnership that has taken them into the playoffs for the National. So, yes, did we ever even consider them?

What sticks in my mind (as I'm reminded living here) is how effective Cambridge's forward recruitment has been. After losing both Smith and Knibbs to Reading, they recruited Kaikai, Kachunga, Ahadme and Lyle Taylor - in addition to Okenabirhie - and these five strikers have scored 33 goals for them in 141 games, almost certainly enough to keep them up.

We'll see how good they are on Saturday when they turn up at Vale Park.

Wife's parents supported Cambridge and dad used to talk about the players they had and how they bargain shopped all the time, so have a soft spot for Cambridge.  But they found good players most of the time.  Being able to spot the better players (rough diamonds) and bring them on is the trick.
