He's 27 in a fortnight.  The issue is would he generate a profit. The only way that would happen is to absolutely tear the league apart next season and for a mid to lower championship club to offer a million for a 28 year old; without a single career goal above league 2. Otherwise a 650k fee is dumb. It equates over 4k a week over a 3 year contract. We'd probably have to pay him 3k a week in wages, so total outlay of 7k a week. There are quite a few out of contract forwards you be reasonably confident would score 15 goals in league 2 for that sort of money.

We offered in the region of 250k for 22 year old Jake Young. I could imagine Carol sanctioning a deal in that region for someone.  What York paid isn't known, other than their chairman said it was a club record fee. I suspect they paid closer to 140k (the old record), than 300k.
