Your Ideal Team For Next Season?

What would be your ideal team for next season? I'd go with:-

 

GK- New Signing

RB- New Signing

CB- John McCombe

CB- Joe Davis

LB- New Signing

RW-New Signing

CM- Doug Loft

CM- New Signing

LW- Louis Dodds

CF- New Signing

CF- New Signing

SUBS:-

Tomlinson, Yates, McDonald, Shuker, Taylor, Pope, Williamson

 

In Reserve:-

Johnson, Owen, Lloyd, James, Morsy, Haldane, Burge

 

This would mean we start with a squad of around 24/25 players which is about right imo, As you can see from my starting eleven I feel it's vital that the players we sign are good enough to come straight into the starting eleven as before the loss of Griff,Rigg & Richards I felt we were about 3-4 quality players short of having a decent side to challenge the top 7!

Going along what was written in The Sentinel today I feel that we need to bring in six new quality players, all of whom are good enough to get into the first team and make an impression.

 

From our current squad I feel that Tomlinson, Yates, McCombe, Loft and Dodds are worthy of a starting/regular first team place. The rest of the team would be made up of new signings. Pope is a hard worker and wears the Vale shirt with pride but won't fire us 15-20 goals imo. Rob Taylor and Shuker are very good players and can be much more effective players when brought on as 'impact' subs when the game becomes more stretched. If Micky chose to go five across the back which included three central defenders then I'd be happy with one of either McDonald or Owen to play.

 

But we do need to bring in another central defender who has a bit more pace than McCombe does imo, someone to play alongside and cover him when we're against pacy attackers.

I'd agree with that, I wouldn't mind tommo starting either but there are better so I'd probably go exactly the same as your team :)

I think you'll all be disappointed as we won't sign that many starters. He'll be relying on the current alot a bit more I reckon. Up front we've lost all our goal threat n are desperate for some quality.

Oh dear.... Looking at relegation with that team. Dodds centre mid? Ainsworth and Williams as Wing backs; would never work neither can defend hence they are wingers, we can't be starting pope up front this year If we want promotion
