The case for Andy Crosby

I don't have any faith that he's the right manager for us. One win against a League Two side, even though I didn't expect us to win the game, doesn't change that. But I do acknowledge that he can only work with what he has got and the fact that our strikers are collectively and individually so average, I'm sure results would be considerably different if we had a decent League One level forward at the club. But I was saying the same thing even when we were edging games. How you end up with a midfield full of quality in Ojo, Arblaster, Devine and Garrity and yet a sorry forward line of Wilson, Thomas, Ikpeazu and Loft...

If we had signed a seasoned L1 goalscorer do you think we would be so good in midfield? The answer is no we wouldn't have been able to afford them.

The club made it very clear we were priced out of the market and went down a route of getting better players around the striker to spread goals around the team.

Honestly if you knew what teams like Bolton,Portsmouth & Oxford are paying for average players you would be shocked, let alone strikers.

I never said it was or would be easy. But I do believe we can and should be doing better than what we have done, the likes of Loft. I also never said we should be signing seasoned League One goal-scorers as that's not particularly realistic. I'm fine with playing with one striker up top if he can bring our attacking midfielders into play and to share goals around, but then you need to play much quicker than we generally have been doing under Crosby for that to be effective.
