January Transfers and Rumours

DF has failed miserably, identified 2 positions that needed filling (which we all knew anyway) and then didn't sign either.

He's paid a salary to get these things sorted, it's on his head. If the funds simply aren't there then his job should be redundant, what's the point in him being here?

Lose tomorrow and it will be uglier than it already is.

Relegation will be on him. Crosby has been shafted. Didn't want Crosby but accepted the decision. Not a fan.

But if he keeps this lot up with the little tools at his disposal he will go way up in my estimation.

Just tried a little bit of sriracha with my cheese ones. Definitely one to add to the repertoire. Held off the bacon this time.

I’m not sure about the gentrification of oatcakes that I am seeing on here. Bacon cheese brown sauce. Occasionally sausage.

Relegation will be on Carol, and DF.

As Flitcroft said himself last January… Free agents are free for reason. Nobody wants them!

We signed Uche who was a free agent 😂

I do think the whole “President Robbie” idea was timed incredibly stupidly. It distracted from the final week of the window and created doubt not just in fans minds but also that of potential buys. You can imagine agents negotiating deals seeing The S*n front page saying, what’s this about a takeover? Even if denied it makes them think there may be more money around.

It should have been done at the end of the season. I hear from the club it was the only time he had. Well if it meant that much to him, he’d work around the club.

It also creates tension with fans, who see a multi, multi millionaire getting plaudits, knowing the club needs a bit of financial help, but does bugger all.

We are now left hanging all our hopes on James Wilson.

A player Flitcoft saw fit to release last Summer, only to resign him when he failed to deliver any other strikers.

Could make it up....

And don't get me started about wing-backs......at least our recruitment team look 3 windows I'm advance and have identified replacements ready and waiting [emoji849]

Tbf Tj you are literally the only fan I have seen with issues about RW who has done more for the club than you ever will.

Just to give an idea of the clubs who are looking at him basically it’s a non-starter.

Alan Nixon said this morning that Sheff Wed didn’t get a striker in, and now Romano saying they may go in for Gayle.

I wonder if that was the issue last night?

We may have had everything agreed with Michael Smith and then sat there waiting to see if Sheff Wed would let him go only to realise they missed out and therefore said no.

I'm the same and as much as I'm not a Crosby fan either I'd tend to agree with that.  I think a lot depends on Wilson' fitness if we could guarantee at least 15 of the remaining 20 games out of him(pray to whatever god takes your fancy if your religious!!) and Loft could at least resemble something of a target man(or a lump that can hold the ball up a bit and occupy defenders for more than 5 seconds) I'd stick my kneck out and say the rest of the squad should have the ability to see us finish somewhere between 16th-20th.  As bad as it looks at the moment!

As long as Crosby doesn't employ the sort of tactics we did at Shrewsbury for example, do that and he's asking for it. May as well go for it imo even if we have games like the Charlton one at home(minus the rubbish defending on our part hopefully).

That probably wouldn't be a bad achievement considering we've had 2 fit strikers for large chunks of the season and the likes of Garrity and Ojo have spent spells on the sidelines.  Having said that I don't think it will be enough to sell as many STs before next season, it's just whether the general fanbase blame Crosby and/or Flitcroft for us not doing a bit better.

I would agree with you, but sometimes you have to try new things!

An absolute shambles.

Tried to be positive and see the long-term view, but really didn’t expect them to make such a mess of the short-term.

We might stay up - but can we really trust that things are going to get better?

Disappointed. We have 2 strikers, one of whom is injury-prone and the other below standard.

Joe, we will only know come the end of the season, whether it’s been a master stroke or a self inflicted disaster. In my case and others it’s the inept performances on the pitch that are getting ppls backs up. If we had a poor squad that battled and lost fair enough, but we seem totally bankrupt of ideas. I stated that I thought we’d survive the drop but I think I’ll have to reconsider my opinion, with others around us strengthening in their forward ranks. If we do go down the financial impact will be massive. We’ve been riding the wave since Carol took over however the wave has certainly reached its peak. No one wants the club to go out of business by over spending, but get things right on the pitch or the oxygen of the club, the fans, will be reduced greatly. Reduced number of fans, reduced food and drink sales, reduced merch sales and sponsorship. I know I’m quoting the obvious but I’m very disappointed.

The risk you take leaving it to the last minutes of a window to business. Plenty of clubs have signed strikers well before the window closing

The only gimmer of hope I can see if that we played Wilson up front early season on his own when we were winning week in week out for that spell so could we make it work with Chislett and Mighten in behind (or Weir).

We need to try and pick up 4-5 points in the next fortnight and hope Funso is back for the rest to give us some hope but a lot of pressure now on JW29.
