Anyone who isn't subscribed to Baggers' newsletter is missing out.

It is miles better (and cheaper) than anything we ever got in the Sentinel papers. We're getting substantially better coverage of our team via the Valiant than Stoke are getting through the Sentinel. Not even close.

Having said that, I have subscribed. I was a regional journalist for almost 50 years, starting at the Sentinel, and believe firmly that communities need and deserve good journalism to keep them informed.

It's not regional anymore though is it it's owned by the reach corporation who are nation wide

Reach recorded pre-tax profits of £150.6m during covid  so don't give it the hard up local rag crap it's all about the world moving to a all aspects of life monetized so don't fall for it save your tenner why should we pay when the pie munchers down the Rd get it for free

What they get for free is garbage. What we are getting for 20p a week is high quality journalism.

Agreed. Don’t know if anyone else subscribes to the athletic, but reminds me very much of that. The piece we got today for example was far better than anything we got before or anything the stoke fans get

I am one of those unimpressed with the club's communication with fans. I'm not alone, and I accept there are some that disagree. BUT, it sounds to me like the problem could be solved by Vale employing Baggers and him sending out 2/3 articles a week in the club's name.
Charging a tenner or twenty quid a year could make a lot of sense all round.

Problem with this is he wouldn’t be able to report in the same way as he wouldn’t be independent. So you’d naturally get more biased articles. I imagine most people would hesitate to openly criticise their employer in public

Not my area but wouldn’t it really be a case of setting up a small business with seed funding? The audience and goodwill are already there attached to the journalist not the news organisation.
