I don't understand how you lot say we don't need wholesale changes, we finished 3 points out of the play offs (technically) but couldn't compete with the top sides, I had hoped the 5 0 thrashing at swindon Would help people realise but obviously not.

We need to get rid of the **** we've been carrying over the past few years.

Ok, we finished 3 points off the playoffs, i'm convinced that had we not had the transfer embargo and a small amount of cash for loan signings, and with out the trauma of admin we would have got at least 6 or 8 more points.

Thats not saying we dont need at least half a dozen changes for next season.

Without our -10 points we would have finished 3 points off the playoffs. Anyone else got that feeling that maybe this year should have been our year? The table should make it obvious to all of those who screamed for a full clear out of players that that isn't what is needed. We don't need wholesale changes to win promotion next year just a small injection of quality. Perhaps next season people can try and back the players and manager all the way through the season, not just when we win a game?

 

I have a good feeling about next season already and can't wait for it to start. Hopefully when the season starts England will be European championship winners and when it finishes Vale will be league 2 champions.

Squad isnt antwhere near good enough for promotion & hasnt been in 4 seasons.

 

Defence is woefully slow, midfield devoid of creativity & bar Rico the strikers are somewhat of a joke.

 

Keep this squad together & it will be a case of a finish inthesame position just outside the playoffs.

Major surgery is required imo. Given the support and the upcoming financial backing, we need to be looking towards the automatic promotion places. We need to find 15 more points to do that and I just don't see that happening with the squad we have now.

We also need to start building a squad for the long term that's not just designed to get out of League Two but can also be competitive in League One. It's no use doing a Chesterfield.

Seriously, we keep on about a 'small amount of cash for loan signings'......we couldn't even sign someone who :

A - Would cost no fee whatsoever

B - Didn't even want paying.

 

what sort of 'cash' do any of us think would have been made available for transfers?

If you do not compete and at least share the points with the top 7 you stand little chance of staying up if promoted. Wholesale changes take time to gel and you end up playing catch-up, so I hope we have at least 5/6 L1 standard players at the end of Jan, so that when promoted we can bring in 4/5 more L1 players so as to consolidate in L1. Players we have may improve, so limiting the need for change, also dependent on the funds available.
