Sentinel: Former Portsmouth, Wigan and Oxford bosses among favourites to be next Port Vale manager

I don’t know about others but I wouldn’t want any of these. The Cowleys did okay at Lincoln and then look at the records of them all. No thanks, I’d want a manager with a winning mentality, not those who’ve been sacked at this level. The Cowleys will be expensive, bearing in mind we’ll probably have to replace most of the team this summer.

These lazy lists are always produced whenever a manager goes and just seem to be whoever is available whose managed at the same level.

I'm sure that when Askey went, Darrell Clarke wasn't even in the top half a dozen names linked with us so I'd take the bookies' favourites with a large pinch of salt.

p.s. the fact that they've got David Artell as SIXTH FAVOURITE shows just how much these bookies know about the club! Anyone with any knowledge of Vale in recent years would know how likely it is that Artell would be named manager...

Looking at the these odds and names in the list show the bookies know nothing!!

I would love to see an experienced L1 manager. Karl Robinson would be my 1st choice.Even though it went sour at Oxford he always seems to be able to find good players, his teams play decent attacking football and always featured young talent from within.

Leam Richardson obviously did brilliant at Wigan but maybe someone looking for a bigger club than us.

Nobody had a clue it was DC until the moment it was actually happening

I would be massively disappointed if it was Robinson. He turnedOxford from a play off team into relegation possibles. Their fans were happy to see him gone.

So were Walsall’s to be fair.
