Match Thread: Port Vale v Bolton Wanderers

It would be fascinating to see if we could buy out the contracts for next season and be the first team in history to literally have a completely new squad. Every single player new. Can’t do much worse and would be interesting.

My point is we draw 0-0 against an absolutely awful Oldham Athletic side.

No credit then for keeping  team with a very good away record like Oldham to one chance ? You dont accept they were awful because we made it very difficult for them ?

They were god damn awful and a reason why they are 17th in the table

They are 17th because of their home form but obviously you want to put the boot in to the club so I'll leave you to enjoy your misery.

Are you talking about the bloke who took over a team on the verge of promotion and took us to within a point of relegation to the National League in four seasons?

On the pitch we are far far worse now than then. No question. Off the pitch we are clearly a million miles better off

Broadside shortly. In posts trying to keep spirits up for sure. I actually think we had a version of the problem we have now all last season even when doing well. It is has been obvious to teams that if they do two things. Firstly park the bus and ask to break us down. Secondly mark Joyce who switches the ball. We struggle. That is what happened today. What has got worse is basically our strikers are not scoring when we do get near goal. In fact they almost seem to be scared to go near the opposition goal and keep trying unlikely shots from distance. They have to get in the box and cause the opposition to tackle and give away corners and penalties as least.

But they won at Bolton and Cambridge amongst others so they can’t be that bad?

I agree with you BUT we need those lazy,greedy,self-important players to save us.

Then we can call them a disgrace and kick them out.

Dont think the two go together.

Fair enough. You’re quite right.

They were awful against us there is no question about that.

They hadn’t sacked their manager the day before those games. Come on you can’t seriously think they looked a decent outfit against us? They constantly tried to play out from the back gifting us chances. Go on their forum, they say how bad they were. We have beaten Bolton and a couple of other ‘top’ sides certainly doesn’t make us any good.

And appointed a bloke who had never lost at Vale Park just for that game.

Not sure how that’s relevant given he had literally a day in charge. They were rubbish there is no denying that. They kept trying to play out from the back but kept giving it away.

If Conlon’s bizarre effort off the post and across the goal line had gone in things would look so different. If their bloke had not shinned that ball today it wouldn’t have wrong footed the keeper. I know we’ve been poor but are we really as bad as some on here insist we are?  I’m surprised some of you lot haven’t topped yourselves.

We are where we are, the table doesn’t lie!

We spluttered today like a rocket trying to launch but held back on the pad.

No inventiveness or guile to open Bolton up. Defence looked solid, I thoughtCrookes could of blocked the final goal shot if he was more aware, although he does seem more aggressive of late?
Feeling despondent at the moment but hoping for a turnaround on Tuesday.

Powder puff up front I’m afraid.

My comment was tongue in cheek.

we should have beaten Oldham I’m not denying that however it’s our own fault we didn’t.

Yes given that we have only won 3 games since November. Yes I do think we are that bad. I literally don’t see how we could be any worse. Remind me to celebrate next time we are 4th bottom in the basement of English football waiting on results from <ovf censored> Southend to keep us in the football league.
