Match Thread: Northampton Town v Port Vale

Featured Replies

Just listening to JA and him saying that players are coming back from injuries - it's nice in one way to have the competition for places on the pitch - would not like to be in his boots trying to pick the first 11 players now.

Nice position to be in that with quality players pushing for places for a starting place.  Makes the current 11 play better.

I get excited!

Especially when I’m right 😂

All in jest... UTV!

Who thought when Smith went off injured at Swindon he wouldn't come straight back in when fit? Brisley will keep his spot on Tuesday after that performance. Another poor signing from Macclesfield 😉

Last 3 seasons, points total for 7th place was: 71, 75, 70. Assuming the worst case of 75, that's 27 more points - say, 8 wins and 3 draws. That's asking quite a lot from 14 games but if we need less than 75, it's looking more and more do-able.

So maybe the timing, with some of our best players coming back in, is going to be just what we need.

Starting to believe it...

After the last couple of seasons, it is just nice to be at the other end of the league and wondering if we can get into the play-offs and not - oh my god we are in the bottom 4 and our team are on the way down as games are going against us and our form is getting worse.

At the start of the season was just happy with mid table place and build a squad to push for promotion the next year.  Would love to see Vale get promotion a year early and repay the Owners with a promotion.

Win the next 4 games, that is half of them.

With the current form the players are in the next 4 games are winnable.

Would be great to know if I'm on holiday for the play off semi finals ha

Great game to win

Wouldn’t pay to watch Northampton every week just launching long balls and long throws hoping something drops. Vale defended really well limiting their chances.

How long is Amoo out for anybody know ?

Great win and really positive Atmosphere. Must have been over 500, barely saw any free seats from Vale.

Outstanding defensive performance. Legge and Brown won us the game. Some of Brown’s saves were world class. Until Worrall scored, they had about 6 decent efforts in a 10 minute spell.

Pope coming on did make a difference. He held the ball up and allowed players like Worrall and notably Montano to push forward.

Great 3 points against one of the form teams. A clean sheet too.

Pope's ability to hold up the ball is vastly underestimated.

The  improved depth of the squad is the difference, players out are now adequately covered.

to be fair we're not averse to playing like that ourselves
