The goal was like all the goals lately a series of Unfortunate events .

Nothing negative about the support i thought lots of encouragement especially for Gibbons first half who i thought is potentially another Kyle Walker but he does let the team down defensively at times but love his get up and at them attitude .

We lost because we have a soft centre ,teams dont score worldies v us they are generally given soft goals .

I wish other teams we as giving .

We got a penalty from a clumsy challenge by their defender, it doesn’t get more giving than that. It’s a pity there aren’t more players with the same attitude as players like gibbons, this is why homegrown lads in general are essential IMO.

There is no question the Morecambe goalie moved before the ball was kicked for the penalty, he moved both sidewards and off his line, Morecambe players also encroached into the area before the ball was kicked, the penalty should have been re-taken.

 

I was incensed by the antics of the Morecamble players before the kick was taken, especially the goalkeeper who really got into Pope's face, IMHO it was unsportsmanlike/ungentlemanly conduct deserving of a booking.

 

IMHO it is harsh to criticise Tom Pope for his penalty technique, he ran up to the ball at a ca 20-30 degree angle which every coach would advise because it gives the opportunity for the penalty taker to put the ball to his right or close the foot at the last second and go to the taker's left (for a right footed player). We don't know whether he tried to use his eyes and further deceive the goalkeeper.

 

The goal keeper guessed correctly and moved early and made a good save even though Popey struck it well albeit at a good height for the keeper to make the save.

Sam Hornby saved a penalty on Wednesday and he used similar tactics to put the taker off.

And yet we still play with two holding midfielders at home, plus three centre backs of which arguably our best two aren’t included!!

 

It defies logic, also to the extent that some might suspect foul play is involved.

 

Agree. if you wanted to set up a team to fail particularly in home games this is how to do it.

Sadly it seems not, it’s absolutely bizarre Askey watched us prior to appointment and continues to pick the same failures that let Aspin down so badly whilst leaving better options on the bench or in the stands.
