As far as I know, the law does not permit the consumption of alcohol within sight of the game, they used to be quite strict in the boxes at Anfield, stewards usually check at the entrance to the paddock at the Vale. But if people can smuggle flares in their trousers why not plastic bottles.

BUT if the bar in the Hamil Road concourse served alcohol during the period of play Vale will be in big trouble.I think the authorities will be looking at this especially if Norman puts a claim in for damage that the drunken yobs caused.

I thought they are allowed to serve it during the game mate, just not that you can then take it into view of the game. Police have already said the Stewards had to be withdrawn for their own safety, so surely if the Police have told the Stewards to move away then that isn't the Clubs fault.

well I could see a lot of Stoke fans drinking bottles of beer in the Hamil Road end during the game. I was in the Paddock and couldn't believe what I was seeing. Where were the Steward's when these fans were bringing the bottles of beer from the concourse into the Stadium?

He should be urging the FA to stop Stoke fans going to any away matches until a full investigation is carried out.

It would be just typical if Vale got fined for this and those ***** got off totally scot-free.

 

It would be a real indication of the injustice in football, clubs like Vale hold no sway on anything. We can't even get a blatant red card overturned where the top clubs can appeal everything.
