I'm glad to be bringing some mirth to you. My "Port Vale Forever" album remains the first-ever football club album known to be released. Although music is entirely a matter of personal taste, there's been an almost entire lack of recognition for that achievement, but that's largely because I'm Jeff Kent and we're Port Vale. We live in a world dominated by celebrities, some talented, some talentless:smile:!

Thank you for your kind comment. Unfortunately, the album was ill fated. The then chief executive, Peter Haynes, planned to hire the Victoria Hall for the album's launch, but by the time it was released he'd resigned. So the actual launch was in the club shop instead! It was barely advertised and was a shambles in front of TV cameras. As I thought everybody knew, sales of music are dependent on airplay, but the club didn't understand that. I only ever heard one track played once at a match and ditto in the club shop, just as it came out, as a token effort. Instead of playing tracks from the album and consequently making money from its sales generated, the club (as we all know) played "The Wonder of You" instead, having by law to make a royalty payment to the Elvis estate every time! Perhaps that's why we're Port Vale, lacking in imagination and forever copying the methods and ideas of others. Despite that, I sold 740 copies (although only half that number at full price), but the sales ought to have been a lot more than that. Having said that, I've never had any regrets about having produced the album.
