Make Alnwick POTY

As we approach what is without doubt the worst season that Vale have played out in many a season. It is without doubt we would have been in a worst position than we are now. With Coventry needing to fail to win tomorrow to secure relegation, I feel it could easily be Vale in that position had it not been for one player this season.

The points that Vale have acquired on the board has been helped without doubt by the outstanding ability of Jak Alnwick. He did his best game in game out for us and deserved frankly a better defence and team around his outstanding ability. He has done well to secure a move to a top club regardless of the clubs mediocre performances on and off the field and I feel as probably many on this forum do, that had Vale performed higher with bigger crowds that the money secured for Jak would have been at least 50% higher

A failing all round of failing to capitalize on a marvelous talent by the chief at the top

Here is my point..even though Alnwick has gone to pastures new lets make him aware of how grateful we have been to his consistent give it all performances (Unlike the rest of the shower) and show the rest of the team how disgusted we are and make Alnwick the player of the year...he is the best player and deserves it regardless he has played less games

I think we can all agree...He was just too good for this club at times

No.Alnwick had his faults like every other player, but Smith has played through all of the turmoil this season and been a credit to the club, and is miles ahead of anyone else.He had Sharp in his pocket and would walk into there team.

Foe me Smith, Steete, Alnwick and Jones have been the only stand out performers this season. But it is the player of the YEAR (or season if you like) - which narrows it down to Smith or Streete surely. Smith for me - fantastic that for a young lad he has been so consistent. I think he has played every game? again for a centre back amazing.

I did do another after though and voted for Smith, surely no one else will get near as from his first game he has played each one like its his last and in the majority has looked like the only one to give a ****.

No matter what size the striker is he throws himself in there and for a CB to only get a couple of bookings in 50 games says a lot really,i still say if we stay a League One club he is a 2m defender....add to this he can score as well

I really wish we could have hung on to Jak but there's only one winner for the POTS awardand that's Smith, a straightforward choice and richly deserved and can't see why anyone would want to prevent it happening.:shifty:

Totally agree. If Smith doesn't get player of the year, it'll be an absolute travesty.

it really says everything about this season that 2 players who left in January are still getting more votes than all but 2 players, and the 2 that are our best players 1 is in his first full season and the other has been injury prone since arriving, the more experienced players should hang their heads in shame and the worst thing is i'll be surprised if smith and streete will be with us next season which is a scary thought who will we get to replace them both ????

You are absolutely right.

Whoever is the manager will have an unbelievably difficult task next year. Our odd better players I'm sure will leave and we have absolutely no quality in the existing squad at all, none whatsoever.

We haven't got a fast tricky winger, not one. We don't have any goalscorers. We haven't got a creative midfield player or anyone who can score goals from midfield.

We don't even have any good full backs any longer.

It's going to be a very hard job to rebuild the team.
