Arsenill vs Lincolon

Well done to Lincoln who have a huge financial bonus and some good memories.

I am glad, however, that they went no further as it would devalue the achievements of lower division teams that have made the semi-finals playing against full sides and FA Cup holders from the previous season (like Vale in 1954) rather than getting there by beating reserves and Sutton United.

Also, one of our posters has been laughing at Arsenal a bit too much lately and declared Lincoln allegiance.

Though I don't follow Arsenal much at all, they are good to watch sometimes and they and their manager don't deserve to be ridiculed.

Neither do West Ham and Baroness Brady but it doesn't stop you.

Wycombe got to the semis 17 years ago. Did that devalue what we did in 1954? Struggling to understand your logic.

That cup run has helped Lincoln so much. From nearly leaving their ground due to debts, they are now secure for another season and can get some better players maybe.

9 thousand went to Arsenal and Lincoln opened their ground for fans and the match was put on a big screen. Lincoln radio said it was full as well. Good example of what players can do when they play for each other and what the cup means to fans.

I rarely post about Wet Sham's results. It's just a personal dislike of their owners, or as one of our colleagues at the Oatcake fanzine site brilliantly described them 'the Dildo brothers and Lady ****'.

Of course you've got to be really refined and educated to read the Bloatcake.

Do you read the Sunday Sport as well?

There is a bit of difference between playing Linoln and playing Bayern Munich.

Bea, You've completely missed the point.

The point being that when Lincoln (a non league team) were losing 2-0 and the game effectivley over they kept running and trying the whole 90 mins, even when they went 5 down the Lincoln players were still running hard and giving their all. When Arsenal went down 1-2 against Bayern, the Arsenal players essentially gave up and capitulated and lost 1-5. A stark contrast in attitude of the Lincoln non-league players compared to the illustious, so called Arsenal EPL stars.

Bit on that one, didn't you?

I presume you are ignorant of the fact that the Wet Sham dildo gang made the money to buy clubs from the Sunday Sport, well some of it after their previous cultural activities !

I saw that link to the Oatcake on here, but yes, I do take an interest in what they say about Vale, however hideous some of it is. I wouldn't say people shouldn't read the Sport either if they want, though it would be nice if they read other newspapers too for some balance.

The Sunday Sport is nowhere near as hypocritical and fantasy-prone as the Mail and Express though, and yes, I also glance at them for a laugh.

I'm just glad that Arsenal didn't spank them by as much as they ought to have done - Lincoln did themselves proud throughout their run, and I don't see how it could have devalued any other small clubs' results in the Cup, had they gone another step or two further?

Going off topic, but still talking Cup matters: I've just heard that Coventry have been given 46,000 tickets for the Johnson's Checkatrade Final? 46k??? How many of those hangers-on have been "boycotting" their club, and, presumably financially damaging it, but jump on the Wembley bandwagon?

I know, and although you probably won't believe me, I planted that post to wind up FUA a bit, as it makes no sense but sounds good and convincing.

It was Arsenal that were playing Bayern Munich and any comparison should have been Lincoln's performance (as you say) against the Gunners and not the other way round.

In fairness to Arsenal, it's a lot easier to give up when you go down to 10 men and know you have no chance, not a massive supporter day for them but one of hundreds of European games.

For Lincoln, it was certainly the biggest Cup game in their history, their FA Cup final, incredible support compared to the 700 they got in their first FA Cup tie this season and they had a massive desire not to let those 9000 travelling fans see them humiliated.

They weren't - and good luck to them, but as a cup run it pales into insignificance against some L1 teams that have had semi-final runs when the FA Cup was a top priority for all teams. I'd rate their run about as good as Vale's in 1988 when we beat Spurs.

Incredibly the last time they beat Arsenal it was in a Div2 league match.
