can someone please inform our new manager that he has 2 hopes of filling the ground completely between now and the end of the season. and one of them is BOB.

 

on another note....in an alternate universe somewhere.....port vale are top of the premier league and we have 85000 fans and about 1 million Chinese fans (that's not including glory hunters worldwide)

Why shouldn't he be ambitious - it isn't really that long ago we had 12,000 or so in League 2 for the Burtion Albion and Northampton games when we got promotion - if we had a game near the end where winning it woiuld get us a top 2 place, who knows ?

The largest gates could be a promotion decider between Vale and Bolton on 22 April 2017, or the 2nd leg of a PO SF in May 2017. FA Cup ties who knows? Thus Bruno may have a while to wait, but it would be fantastic, nice to have a dream that if you build a team they will come, I suppose that is what managers (Chairman too) dream about.

I was working today Jacko as I do every Saturday so the radio was my only option. I will be there Tuesday though. If we have a game at the end of the season with something as massive as promotion riding on it I'll be sure to use one of few holidays to be part of the occasion.

 

Fair play to Bruno, it's good to have some ambition.

Moaning about ambition now, you couldn't make it up.

The leagues are littered with clubs who a few years ago were getting gates similar to ours most were clubs who built new stadiums and putting good teams out having a few good seasons and building the fan base

Charlton in the 2000's with their target 7000 campaign, Bolton, Blackpool, Rotherham, Brighton , Fulham, Brentford, Reading the list goes on it can be done

The true way is to get consistent results have a few good cup runs drawing big clubs knocking them out and having two or three consistent seasons!!

With crowds of that size we will have moved to the New Wembley of the North astride the M500 (now 6 lanes to cater for the tourist traffic), from where there is a tram service to the Vale Park Museum to cater for nostalgia trips, cash only.

I remember Liverpool fans sitting on Railway stand roof and along the edge of the playing field (cup game). It could happen again but perhaps not in my lifetime!

I am afraid those days have gone, a game like that would be televised nowadays, Liverpool would be limited to 4500, and Vale is limited in capacity now. However a full house would still be tremendous.
