ANOTHER WOMAN AS P.M . it went so well last time with maggie the witch .meanwhile the brexit "scam" goes on weeks after the vote we are still an eu member whilst they cook up a good reason for ignoring the vote .

Just hitting the refresh key Bon'Ami (It's more than likely my following questions have previously been answered).

In this neck of the woods a referendum - plebiscite - seeks an opinion for or against important issues but which may or may not be approved by parliamentary. However, and with every referendum I've voted in, guidelines including greater than 75% or more yes vote guarantee parliamentary approval.

My questions are: Were there guidelines to include a greater than X% yes vote guaranteeing parliamentary approval? Or was it a simple 50% plus 1 yes vote? And, was it stated at the outset that regardless the margin for Yes v No the referendum will be approved by the UK parliament?

Cheers

This little quip reminds me of politics....

Mick dropped his toast and it landed butter side up... he went to his priest to claim a miracle... The priest said it would have to be considered by a higher authority and contacted the vatican... several weeks later the priest went to Mick to inform him that it wasnt a miracle.... the vatican had declared that he must have buttered the wrong side to begin with...

I hate religion far more than politics!

It would take an exceptionally strong government to do that Barry. Imagine the anarchy!

I suppose it would be, both or more sets of MPs disagreeing with their respective members is a close as we get to anarchy. But if a sensible outcome to the EU situation can't be reached one solution would be a general election with one party backing out or in, and the rest forming an electoral pact against. Long way from that yet.

In other words Bon'Ami, politicians putting their own self-interests before the UK. Gosh! What a surprise - not.

There was a 3.8% difference favouring the yes vote (51.9 : 48.1) with 24% eligible voters choosing not to vote for one reason or another ergo the way I see it - given it was only recommended plebiscite - parliament should put it to one side and put it down to experience.

Instead, as I see it, 3 male leaders have demonstrated political coward by resigning and heading for cover.

Unbelievable

Re Andrea Leadsom and her supposedly exaggerated CV. There was a great piece in the Times the other day which made me chuckle. The relevant paragraph read as follows:

"I laughed when Michael Deacon, of The Daily Telegraph, tweeted that he had “a soft spot for Andrea Leadsom” because he had been “deeply moved by her speech about winning the Wimbledon Ladies’ Singles in 1975”. My colleague Matt Chorley tweeted that “Leadsom will be unfazed by today’s onslaught . . . She faced far worse at the Battle of El Alamein”, while others elsewhere claimed that Mrs Leadsom had fielded for the England cricket team and had played the saxophone solo on Gerry Rafferty’s Baker Street."
