Dicko signing for..

Dicko is a leader. We need more players of his ilk who have passion for the shirt. He would be a big loss to the team. Its laughable how he and even those who have just left are being dismissed so easily. Its very worrying that so many of the squad could be gone, and that leaves a big rebuilding job for the new manager who may only have 1 or 2 weeks before the players are due back for pre-season. Its not an easy job to get so many new players to gel straight away in to a squad.

He shouts and points a lot, sure, but his actual ability leaves a lot to be desired! I'm not bothered whether he stays or goes but he isn't a full-back that would be difficult to replace in any shape or form in regards to actual footballing ability.

I disagree, but its a game of opinions as they say. I think he's a tough one to replace not only as a player but as one of the backbone of the team.

He's a poor footballer. His presence around the dressing room might well be missed though, as with Dodds.

Are you kidding? Admittedly I haven't been on there recently so they may now be slightly more civilised but the hatred, bile and ramblings such as hoping people get monkey aids is enough to make a civilised person vomit, if PVO was someone's house I'd wipe my feet on the way out and call in environmental health, oh and call for the men in white coats to take most of the inhabitants away. Nurse :)

The only three positives to come from it are Eddie's match reports and Santa's Smurf porn avatar of me that I took on as my own oh and some very wise poster called Sperm who is ahead of his time and a bit of a genius

To be fair,I don't know whether Sperm knows if he/she's coming or going?

Its all relative, none of these lads are poor footballers, they didn't make it on pure luck. You're going to find a mix of all sorts of players in a team. Not everyone is going to as comfortable on the ball as say a Grant or O'connor. Sure he can be wasteful on the ball at times when he does things out of his comfort zone like trying to hit 50 yard passes or beat a few players on a run. But players like Dicko, when they keep it simple, win the ball and just give the ball to those that are better on the ball in midfield, who will do the basics of his job, to defend, to run through a brick wall for the team, who play with passion and for the shirt are something not to be under estimated. In the few reserve games I've seen over the last few years I liken some of these qualities and the attitude of Dicko in the up and coming defenders like Nathan Smith and James Gibbons too. Players who play with the passion that we as fans like to think we'd play with if we were given the chance to wear the shirt.

He's a full back that isn't comfortable in possession, such as Purkiss is a lot of the time. Yes, Dickinson is passionate and that we can all agree on, but I don't believe that there aren't other left-backs around that can easily replace him and do the same job if not a little better. Some players at any club are irreplaceable or near to, but for me he certainly isn't one of them.

Its swings and roundabouts because whilst yes Purkiss is better on the ball, I don't think he's as good a defender. Dicko has no issues when he keeps it simple. And arguably at this level the complete package of a full back is going to cost a lot more or they are already playing at a higher level. Lets say Dicko goes, then we have to find a better option. We could get lucky and unearth a gem for less money or have to pay more for an upgrade when we supposedly slashing the budget.
