Keeping Page is a priority

Rob Fielding thinks that Rob Page is the right man for the job at Vale Park and hopes that the club can keep him after interest from other clubs. Rob Fielding writes… Even though there are a minority of fans for whom manager Rob Page can do no right, I think that many believe that […]

The problem for me is that he's now starting to build his squad and his players. If he decides to leave then not only will we have to trust that the club can decide on a competent replacement but that person will have to come in and work with a bunch of players that aren't his.

I believe stability and continuity are big factors in football and I personally see enough promise in Rob Page to be optimistic about what he could do.

Or maybe they'd just promote Bodin.

But they seem to be a close-knit coaching staff. What if Page takes them with him to another job?

Who would it be then? Micky Adams? Dean Glover?

If Page does chase the money and goes, he will no doubt take some of the staff with him. He seems to have built a good relationship with them. Also wonder if he would take some of the players with him. Birchall, Yates etc.

If he does get offered the job he will take it because it would be an obvious increase in wages.

PVFC764. If he does go, it would be nice if took those two players with him plus B. Moore.

If Vale do have to find a replacement, advice for the chairman from a person in the know may be a good idea. But would a GOOD replacement be willing to come for a lowly paid position?

All considered, it is best for the Vale that Rob Page stays.

There are plenty of other good decent options if Page goes. And to be honest, I feel that some on here are not looking at the bigger picture which is the lack of consistency in the Vale team...the club can do better and need someone who does not take fools lightly and that has to be someone with his own mind instead of someone who seems to have too many favourites in his circle within the club...this is why Vale will not progress with Page at the helm.

Who would you bring in with the budget available? Would they be respected by staff and players? Hell of a risk to take, teams are not built overnight, usually take 2 to 3 years.
