What a load of crap, they can **** off if they think I'm giving the PL any more money, I'll go & watch a FL v FL fixture instead if we play against any of them.

Absolute joke, what if 2 PL U21 teams get to the final, who will even care? I can't imagine anywhere near a half full Wembley going for that.

I'd prefer to scrap it than give them any more money, for development or not. This is not the way.

Give PL youth players a chance in the PL then.Chelski and many more mid table sides have nothing to play for so give them a chance in their first teams. They'll do anything to avoid that though.

Or maybe if the pl clubs want their u21 players competitive time then maybe a rule for pwmership teams is to field 2 u21 in their league matches -from their academies 👀👀

The football league ought to tell them do one if the premier league want a reserve league they have enough money to run one .They don't give a thought to the football league clubs and we should be the same. When this season is over and either chelsea, man utd,man city, liverpool,do not get into the champion league they will try anything to change the rules again so it suites them mark my words go on leicester and show these arrogant so called massive clubs what for.

I am sick to death of the Premier League greed merchants. I've always liked the JPT in its various guises as it is a realistic chance of a trip to Wembley and a trophy for lower divisions clubs. The Prem mob are so greedy they even want to deny us that now because their U-21 teams full of the likes of the Marcus Rashfords, Paddy McNairs and Rueben Loftus-Cheeks of this world are going to be difficult to beat for lower league clubs with bread and butter games to play as well.

I've been predicting for years that the big money clubs want an American style league across Europe, ie, the 'Champions League' as the higher division and the 'Europa League' as the second division with little or no movement in or out of the membership. They'll probably go for franchises as well so we can see clubs like, say, Porto get purchased and then moved to somewhere like, say, St. Petersburg like when the Brooklyn Dodgers moved to Los Angeles - or Wimbledon moved to Milton Keynes. It's soulless and depressing, football's deep history of being a form of entertainment for the ordinary person that also offers a feeling of belonging and representation of an area counts for nothing and yet that's what made it the global supersport it is.

Some of these Premier clubs are real arrogant idiots, can't they see that constantly moving toward an ever detached elite will result in the majority of them being left out in the cold with the rest of us? Do the West Broms, Newcastles, Evertons and Southamptons really think they'll be welcomed to the top TV deal table with the likes of Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid? They're like turkeys voting for Christmas.

Absolute nonsense. I've already quit attending games in this competition and imagine that many more will follow if this goes ahead. Hardly anybody turns up for it as it is. Never right.

I turn up because I love Vale & want to see every game regardless, and like others say, it's a slightly easier trip to Wembley (not that we've done it yet).

If they introduce PL teams though, I think FL teams should boycott. Absolutely ridiculous idea. Sadly, the PL will probably get their wish, & we will take it like we usually do, along with everything else, like fixture moves etc.

I agree 100% with all of that.:clap::clap::clap:

I cannot see the logic behind this at all. If the Premier League genuinely want competitive action for their young players, how are they going to achieve this by entering them into a competition where they may play one game per season then get knocked out? Why not set up a proper U21 League, increase the number of over age players allowed in the team and call it Reserve team football? Worked well in the past. Then why not match the fixture list to the Premier League and play the games with kick offs an hour after the main game allowing folk to stay and watch both if they're daft enough?

Or better still not monopolise the best young talent or be forced at the very least to loan out a certain % of young players to FL clubs wage free.

The stupidity on here sometimes gets even worse. So naïve and ready to have rings run round you, I bet you still wear nappies....don't you think money would change hands, favours would be done, and your 'forced to' rules laughed at.

Perhaps try looking at the post before your (post 14,by Jacko) for a sensible well-thought out alternative that might actually work.

So you run the post down and get all personal without actually giving reasons, wow man you are on fire this morning, I think you belong in Corben's gang!

Money doesn't need to change hands, PL clubs have exceptional amounts of money, FL clubs don't! If they were genuinely interested in the development of young players they would send them out on long term loans to FL clubs on a cost free basis so they could compete regularly at the standard they seem keen to integrate crap b team ideas into.

Christ almighty as a huge socialist who supports the barmy works of Jezza I would have thought you would have been educated enough to realise the super rich taxing the poor to improve the value of their property isn't a great idea!
