Port Vale 1 Swindon T 0, post match comments

It wasn't the best game attacking wise, but the way we stopped them ever really getting in our area was very impressive.

As for Kennedy, he was knackered after 25 mins at Doncaster last week, so to make it to 70 mins last night was a massive improvement. He did make a couple of poor decisions but overall I thought he looked a threat. Not sure why him and Dodds switched after Kennedy went down 1st half. Both wide men were having success on their original flank, it all went a bit quiet after they switched. In my opinion, a good performance in a different way. For the 1st time in a while we looked solid and unlikely to concede. Down to Innis maybe?

I'm so glad he is back in, I said yesterday to someone that McGivern's suspension may be a blessing in disguise, as it has given Inniss the opportunity to re-establish himself in our defence, which in my opinion is great for the Vale because I think he is the best defender we have.

We weren't exactly troubled a lot by a terrible Swindon side yesterday, but we were organised at the back & never looked like conceding really. How one or two have said we were lucky to win & were outplayed is beyond me, we had loads of chances despite possession stats & hit the post, had one pretty much cleared/saved off the line too. Also loads of breaks in the 2nd half which could have ended in goals easily had we made better decisions. Alnwick meanwhile had to do nothing apart from one save that I remember!

I agree regarding Kennedy, he looked wrecked after about half an hour again today but then got his 2nd wind, same thing happened after about 10 minutes of the 2nd half until he eventually completely capitulated. Thought that he also did an awful lot more tracking back and defending than other wingers we have or have had over the season.

As for the switch I think that it came about almost by accident after we had a corner that was cleared quickly, Kennedy/Dodds ended up defending their opposite wing and it stuck for a bit. I think it that worked for the better as we were being hammered down the Paddock side until the switch. Kennedy offered a bit more protection.

Agreed, check out the highlights and they are being particularly kind to Swindon. We actually cerated 4 very presentable chances from corners last night, something unheard of this season.

They played almost everything in front of us and when they tried to thread a pass the back four looked really assured and either had it covered, let it run out for a goal kick or Alnwick collected it.

I also thought that Duffy had been performing below par recently but he had a really decent game last night, just rushed a few clearances on occasion gifting the ball back too easily.

Last nights attendance most have been a total guess season ticket holder in bycars got to turnstile early two people in turnstile one looked at season ticket the other gave me a ticket said scanners had failed just checked ticket they gave me no number on ticket so I take it there was no head count last night

Just like the Bill Bell days then!
