Blackpool's story basically boils down to a chairman who no longer wants to spend any money on the club. Plenty of chairmen who do that. Blackpool have never been a big club in my 30 year life time, in fact, aside from that mid 2000s cash injection they mostly finished behind Vale for many years.

10 years ago, Blackpool had a crap golf stand as an away end and a stand named after a series of budget cheapo shops.

The prem journey was great for them, but they are not fallen Giants in the Leeds mould.

Blackpool`s greatest era was the 40/50s, mainly in the top tier, with 11 internationals when only a few clubs had a couple, as nearly all international were from the UK or Ireland not a lot to go around. Appeared in 3 Cup Finals in 6 years, winning one.

This is what worries me? the team have shown great improvement with recent games.... but with vales history of halting other teams downward spirals.....

I really hope we can continue the run of results!!!!

Hopefully beating Barnsley stopped the pattern.

a very true and accurate post( david at preston) I moved to blackpool 18 years ago and watched it go downhill since. as david said lot of the major employers left or closed down, even the airport has closed. its not the happy place we knew as kids. now they talk of drilling for gas. the latest results at vale have cheered me up though

I guessed that you'd have written something like that. Horrible little man. Do you have nothing decent to say about any other fans or clubs?

I'm sure they cared about us when we in admin and at the bottom of league 2 whilst they were in the prem.

Blackpool are in free fall on and off the pitch. We need to show no mercy tonight, a win & we going to be in a great position with the busy end of year period coming up....

A lot will depend on who is in goal for Vale if its calamity chris we will need to score at least three to get anything from this game

His lack of tactical nous, his substitutions show that he can't read the game properly, the retained list after bleating (that I can't help the poor results these aren't my players) then re signs most of them, remembering that it was basically only the failings of the teams around us that kept us up, he doesn't or at least his backroom team doesn't suss out the opposition to nullify their strengths and exploit their weaknesses, sets the team up not to lose when in fact some poor sides have beaten us, thats enough to be going on with and I still say that any progress on the pitch will be despite page not because of him.

I would suggest that he has shown a lack of tactical nous away from home, but how can you be disappointed with the home form? On Saturday, he got the strikers to put pressure on their centre halves as he knew they looked to launch the attacks from there. Against Wigan, we didn't press in their half as they liked to play the ball out from the back and we didn't have to press so far up. Therefore I totally disagree with you that he and his backroom team don't suss out opposition at home.

I think the away form is purely down to him being far more cautious when we're away. I don't really understand why but he just hasn't found a good way for us to play away from home. It happens to a lot of rookie managers and it takes trial and error to reach a successful conclusion. We seem to nullify opposition threats away from home in the main, but look less likely to score. Surely the home form is positive enough to get people believing that Pagey has potential as a manager?

I don't think anyone was happy with the retained list were they? Had we been in charge then surely things would have been different. But Page is in charge and made his choices. He'll be judged on the final league position.

As for your point about the players making successful, then I would agree. But you can't blame Page when we're **** and absolve players of responsibility, then laud the players for victories whilst ignoring the impact Page has had. That would be rather hypocritical in my opinion. They share the good and the bad times. The players have made mistakes, so has Page. We're doing alright though, and we should be happy with the position we're currently in.
