One hit wonders

I think BEAT THE CLOCK was quite successful too, a good dance/pop/electro song that got in the UK top ten. Sparks were a strange group, considered by some as really cool, others thought they were a novelty act - but I think some of their songwriting was superb.

Sparks are still going , a couple of years ago they had a series of gigs where each night they played a different album in its entirety, 20 - odd I think.

You have to be good if your drummer is called Dinky Diamond.:D

Saw John Farnham a few weeks ago. He was dreadful.

Like Danny Wilson (not to be confused with Danny George Wilson) , there albums were pretty good as were offshoots, King L, Gary Clarke and Swiss Family Orbison.

Arthur Brown is ace , saw him a few years ago, the support act was Tim Rose just before he died. (Led Zep pinched Bonzo from Tims band)

I think I spotted Arthur Brown on one of those Glastonbury review programmes recently, he was there in one of the last 3 years or so, so must still be playing hopefully.

He also did some good work with Hawkwind, and contributed to the astonishing album by the late Hawkwind memeber Robert Calvert called 'Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters' which just has to be listened to.

Another one I thought just thought of.... let's see if anyone can work out which song and group I am thinking of (no prizes or coasters unfortunately)..

They had a long and wonderful career, but only one UK Top 10 hit, which was covered by over 300 other groups and artists. They released over 40 singles from 1965 to 2005 but this hit was mid 70's.

They aren't a UK or USA band, and in their home country had more than 40 hit singles and chalked up 30 Gold and Platinum albums.

They are one of the longest existing rock bands in the world currently performing in the same line up.

And in my humble opinion, the hit Im looking for is the best ever song to listen to when driving a car (or truck)

Should be enough to go on.....

Is it Kraftwerk?

Glad to say that the mighty K were appreciated more here than poor GE, and had several UK hits, The Model being No 1 in 1982, but also Tour de France, Autobahn, Pocket Calculator, Showroom Dummies (my most liked), The Robots all in UK top 40 and a few more lower in the charts.

Anyone else that likes Kraftwerk might like this site;
