I agree a nothing game .

Judging by the comments of those who did go hardly any player was interested either.

Shame that wheres the motivation win anything .

Its not like premier league where naff average sides get rewarded for failure and even.them.who get relegated get a nice pay day ,So i take it our players believe there can.just turn.up and win ,im sure that was the same mentality v Millwall and Oldham funny enough on a tues night .

Its obvious they aint getting there win bonuses cause the game after there ryhmes with rank !.

Before anyone spouts off , no I'm not a 'happy clapper' , I too was disappointed ,I just don't spout off every time we lose , I just support my team , try it and stop moaning !!

I'm Vale mad too, me. I thought it was in our best interests to lose and be out of that bag of ***** so I didn't go. I'm going to Southend, I think it's in our best interests to win that one.

 

I'm writing to the football league today to ask why they haven't scrapped it yet.

 

I take it you weren't following Vale when we won the old Autoglass and LDV finals, two of the best days following Vale I have ever had.

 

Our only realistic chance of a game at Wembley is in this competition. Just look at the final of last years competition watched by over 72000 people.

 

I know it has only been a tener get in for these games but maybe for all games up to final, price should be less than a fiver, try and get more people in, all kids could go free.

This competition gives teams a great chance of a Wembley appearance, you only have to win 5 games. Can you imagine how much Walsall made out of that final last year, look at where they are in the league this year, not done them much harm.

Blackpool could have scored from every corner they had. We did not win one ball. I agree with a previous poster that our system for marking players from set pieces is simply not working. Whether it is the system that is wrong, or simply that our players are not good enough to cope with it, it must now be changed. It is not working. I hope I am wrong but last night's game showed that Michael Brown is not good enough anymore. Before the game, I expressed my concern that I could not see any attacking creativity from central midfield and my fears were proved correct. Why Hooper was not on the bench is a total mystery for such a match. Yes, the buck stops with the players for such an abject performance but the management team must also shoulder responsibility for a lack of positivity in team selection.

 

The problem at corners imo is Duffy - He doesn't even look at the ball he is too busy wrestling with his opponent and spends too much time on his a**e appealing for non existent fouls.We missed Foleys work rate last night.Brown off the pace but it was his first start.

Duffy is undersized for a centre half, so set pieces are a mare for him, still want him playing though

The team played really well against Sheffield but don't seem to be able to play two games in a week. This has happened before at Bradford etc. That said there was plenty of bad luck. A serious injury with delay contributed to the first goal and a penalty decision where the defending player should clearly have been sent off would have changed the game. I feel Blackpool are better than their league position but most of all they understood how to counter our threat down the right and defended the box pretty well.

 

It is disappointing because it is the trophy we could win. Move on to Saturday. We obviously need to defend set pieces better and I am concerned once again that we are back to two similar centre backs and will be vulnerable in the air. In my view that means Uche and Daniel must play for their attacking and defending qualities. Actually Daniel is a much better target man than I credited and he is growing in my estimation.

We always seem to slip up against the lower teams in this league. I wasn't at the game last night so I can't comment on the performance. I was wondering why Daniel was playing up front on his own. I still think he is not a real striker. I was expecting Uche to start the game because we seem to look weaker without him in the team e.g. our main attack threat. I was also hoping JJ Hooper or Campion would have a game to impress but no.

I don't know if they've changed or I have, but I have really been enjoying Radio Stoke's commentaries this season. Actually feel very lucky to have them.
