Humour Bypasses and The Perpetually Offended

No point knocking my owd fruit he ain't for listening hen he has a bee in his bonnet! ;)

I'm amazed Manning made a career out of what he did but then that was another time when ignorance knew no boundaries I guess.

Nothing Manning said is as bad as you trying to make a little playground 'gang' by taking sides on a series of posts that were not offensive and did not concern you.

Even when I kept well away from your septic posts for quite a while, you couldn't help yourself butwait for an opportunity to gang up - as your opening para has nothing to do with the thread or manning.

Just as bad as you always were, and well qualified to talk on ignorance.

Bernard hardly changed his act at all over the years. Taking money for old rope maybe, but you could argue why change a winning formula?

He wasn't an intellectual by any stretch, so when he was questioned by Mrs Merton and the revolting Esther Rantzen his responses were not particularly eloquent.

His home turf was really Northern working men's clubs, and medium-sized venues at the height of his career.

His timing was superb, but I've always thought his best point was the blunt, Mancunian accent. Take that away and his gags just didn't sound as good. Mike Reid and Jim Davidson had similar acts, but neither had the stage presence or characterful voice of Manning.

He wouldn't get a TV gig these days - but when you look at unfunny berks like Dave Gorman, Josh Widdicombe and Jack Whitehall the future looks bleak for UK comedy.

if he's well qualified to talk on ignorance how can he be ignorant?

It was a play on words, sorry if it was beyond your intellect, though not really surprised.

Does he really need you to answer - 2 posts in a row. I've heard about the monkey and the organ grinder, but in this case its 2 monkeys.

And when you 2 play the pantomime horse, who is the front end - on second thoughts spare me that answer,Im thinking of eating soon and don't want to vomit at the thought of it.

The man was funny, like him or hate him he was funny... but then no one forced people to go to see him

What you mean is YOU found him funny, so did many others, from the posts on this thread and other sources many people did not - Iv no problem with a difference of opinion, but what makes your opinion say it as fact when those who don't agree would just post 'the man was not funny.'

Opinions, and not facts unless you are totally conceited.

If you read his post again he is giving his opinion, not dictating fact. Relax.

You don't like him, I don't like him, others do, end of story!

davidatpreston, are you doing alright mate? I have read some brilliant posts from you over the years on here,

and many of them with a great knowledge of Vale's past history, which I really enjoy hearing about.

Keep it up, please, and don't lose any sleep over this thread. I wonder what would happen if those of us who

throw daggers back and forth on here, myself included , at times, met at a Vale match?

Would a row break out , or would we all have a pie and a pint. The latter, I hope.

I'm not finding fault with you, I'm just a bit surprised , as you are usually calm and collected.

If they didn't realise who each other were, they would be fine

If they did, they would FIND something to disagree on

dap whats wrong with you?, human beings are a diverse race so why not accept that fact that what is humourous to some is an anaethima to others.
