I have watched Liverpool three times this season. Up front, if he stays fit, would be Sturridge who is a world class player. Flamino, Cortinho and a number of other young players like Ibe are very useful. Midfield is solid, although I can't say I am thrilled with Henderson. Defence, well the fullbacks are good going forward but need to improve defensively. They need a new high quality centre half. There are not many around and that is why Klopp has signed a player from the German League. I believe he is wrong to place faith in Minoglet from what I have seen. But he has a platform to work from with mostly a young squad sprinkled with a few experienced players. If he strengthens the defence and deepens the squad they are likely to contend next season.

The problem with sturridge is not his injuries, it's in his head. There was one game where Gerrard had to convince him to play, and then he scored two goals. Some players will run through brick walls with their leg hanging off, sturridge won't play if he had a sniffle a couple of days ago. If Liverpool are to succeed they need to spend some money and replace him.

That's nonsense really. Do you know him personally?

No doubt he's also affected mentally with his various injuries, any player would be. But I don't believe for one second that he's happy not playing football, and that he's happy not being able to score goals which is something he does in abundance when he's actually in the team.

Agree with a lot of what you said. But although Mignolet still makes errors, usually costly one's, he's also had superb games this season in which he's kept Liverpool in games. What he needs is a better understudy than Bogdan and previously Brad Jones to really challenge him and perhaps help to take him up a new level.

But most (all?) professional keepers will have superb games which keep their team in games..the best make the costly errors so rarely that no one mentions them in evaluating him. He's no better than David James and had Liverpool had a better keeper during those years they would have done better in the PL....probably even won the thing

Hasn't Klopp come out and said virtually what Andyregs said (minus the last bit, which clearly he won't say even if he thinks it)?

I'm not denying that Sturridge is weak mentally. The amount of injuries he's had it must have an effect. But I take issue with those that say that he's happy at not playing, which is a silly statement to make and only based upon the fact that people think that every footballer that's on a ton of money just couldn't care less as long as they are getting paid. But none of us know him personally and what he could be going through.

It's a shame really because he has the talent to be one of the best forwards in the game, certainly one of the top few in the Premier League.

My sister knows Sturridge and his family quite well and says he is one the most horrible arrogant **** you would want to know.

Even if so, that still doesn't mean that he isn't desperate to play football and score goals, something he's rather good at when able.

He just has an incredibly weak minded and lazy mentality.

But how do you know for certain he's mentally lazy? None of us do. He could train like a demon when actually available for all we know.

What we do know for sure is that he's a massively gifted forward that makes Liverpool a much better side when he's in it, but that it doesn't happen anywhere like near enough which is unfortunate for both player and club.

Did you go Tranmere on Saturday Warren?I see they got over 12,000 against Cheltenham, which was a great turnout.
