New striker required - by the head scratching page

Page has come out and said:

The manager explained: "I think we conceded too many goals last season. We created opportunities, but we weren't ruthless in our finishing so that is both areas that need addressing."

"I think - I think" - no it was obvious to us fans and guess what you have now offered them contracts and during the last season you kept playing the same players you now say were not ruthless enough. That is why the fans wondered if you had lost the plot abit.

Could it be a master stroke by Page and by offering them rubbish contracts, they will leave and he can then say, I tried to keep them, but they found other clubs to bring down. He will then bring players who we have never heard of and either win the league or get us relegated. Then he can blame Smurf and the Fans for not supporting the club.

Why do the Senile always put the picture of Page scratching his head with the demused look on his face when there is a Vale story? There must be other pics of him.

"But last season we didn't draw enough games. We had nine draws and if we'd turned that into 15 there is a difference there to finishing in mid-table."

Thats not very positive, perhaps we could have won some instead of making a draw... perhaps.... we didnt win enough games?

Any chance of some people on here giving the manager some support instead of constantly sniping at Rob Page he is who we have so he needs all the support he can get remember he is going to make mistakes as many experienced managers do.

Lets take it that we were at work and you were having regular criticism how would you feel? Lets give the guy a chance you may be surprised.

Isnt part of the managers job to build the "buzz"... create an atmosphere of positivity and confidence?

He hasn't helped himself. What do you expect the reaction to be when your manager says , we need more draws? And honestly if I was in pages position I wouldn't care, I certainly wouldn't be on here checking would people thought.

I stated the same myself about not enough draws at the away game at Sheff.Utd.I don't think he's being unduly negative to be honest. When we finished 3rd to Bolton and Stoke a few years ago,I spoke to Carl Beeston(nice bloke off the pitch) about that particular season and he said that Vale would have gone up if they had nicked a few more draws instead of trying to win every game.Always better to get something out of a game.;)

To be fair Ben he's not helping himself at all at the moment with his decision making and comments.

Isn't there a famous quote "you start off with 1 point, your first job is to try and keep it"?

Yes - I think it was Brian Clough ( he wasn't a bad manager but I bet if he had managed the Vale OVF forum would still have slagged him off for something:D )
