Nepal Earthquake

soothsayer

Recommended Posts

Desperately sad news coming out of a place very close to my heart especially as I was there less than six months ago. Sounds like both Kathmandu and the Everest region have been devastated in a country of lovely people. I'll be sending a few quid a cross together with my best wishes.

It's very humbling to see people living and working in areas/countries where the worlds' tectonic plates meet, especially the poorer areas. The breathtaking mountain ranges/volcanoes result in awe inspiring scenery but at the same time real danger from earthquakes and eruptions, it's a tragedy for Nepal but pleasing to see the World reacting to help and provide financial aid.

Glad we are helping but we need to do moare..divert some of the overseas aid budget directly to Nepal now

Totally agree £5m out of an overseas development budget of £11bn is peanuts. We spend far more on countries that hate our guts instead of a country who actually likes us and even provides the Gurkhas to our Army.

Endon High School recently involved with an exchange visit with a school in Kathmandu, where 13 teachers and pupils were here as recently as Easter after Endon took resources out to their school last year. Are currently looking at fund raising initiatives to assist their partner school.

Make a substantial donation through a route that protects it from the corruption in Nepal. I decided for a number of personal reasons to give £250 which is way above my usual level of giving. I did this via AVAAZ.
