Vote on this today in the house of commons.

Interesting to read in the article that the church opposes this. Do many people care what the church say? If they had their way we would be living in the middle ages still.

I have no issues with a 3 person baby if it saves suffering and prevents the deaths of thousands of infants.

Ditto.

As long as there some legal work put in to define which person/people are responsible for the child's welfare then I think you have to embrace medical advances that will help save suffering.

agreed

surely if we're able to prevent something, its worth doing.

my only reservation is that it should only be used in such circumstances.

Nope. Wish we would stop ****ing around with mother nature, wont be long until something man made turns into a weird virus like in I am Legend or planet of the apes

Bet you wouldn't be saying that if you had a child at risk of this mitochondrial defect.

I can just picture it now. Question Time on tv, from a bin dipping north west city and we have a question from the man at the back with the tache, permed hair and track suit - yes, sir,,,,,

'errrr, like, dis 3-parent baby thing... can yer claim like , extra child benefits like you do do '

For me it's nature. I wouldn't stop it or be fully against it by any means but personally I'd say let nature takes it's path. Parents although maybe upset and scared at first will love their child as they would without the deformity, seen it on many occasions in which the parents are asked later in life if they would change their child and their answer is usually no, simply because they are special and wouldn't want them to be different. In my view i think it's a good possibility to have, not sure everyone would want it though.

If the child was given a choice to be born with the condition or not what do you think his or her choice would be? My point being it's not really about the parents.

And what about those children whose condition would usually lead to an early death?
