Maybe, if you consider Anthropology is not a science.

 

She graduated with Highest Distinction from UC Berkeley, earning a B.A. with a major in Anthropology

 

Anthropology is a science in the same way as Social Science is a science degree but it wouldn't give her the understanding of the techniques and molecular processes going on although she could have been tutored. She lists her BA as in Anthropology and Peace and Conflict Studies which tells you where her expertise/interests lie. UC Berkeley is a top school though.

I can just picture it now. Question Time on tv, from a bin dipping north west city and we have a question from the man at the back with the tache, permed hair and track suit - yes, sir,,,,,

This issue isn't like IVF as no one was suggesting changing the human genome then. There are other issues, like the destruction of countless embryos (hopefully) to produce a healthy child, but nothing in IVF changes genetics.

 

This does. Who knows what the result will be down successive generations? It worries me that the same medical establishment that told us it was safe to give Thalidomide for morning sickness is championing this move. It's a step too far in my opinion.
