But has Smurf said he won't pay anybody else a decent wage. I honestly didn't hear the famous interview, but did hear Smurf a few weeks later saying he would offer Pope what he thought he was worth. I got the impression listening between the lines Smurf didn't think Pope was worth his current wage. Don't forget at the time Pope had been on a Barren run including quite few fans saying he should be dropped. He then scored against Preston and a couple in the League, but since then got injured. Perhaps Smurf just doesn't rate him as much as us.

We can eliminate his threat by leaving a few bales of hay at the side of the pitch, he was on the floor that often on Saturday I was convinced he was eating the grass.

 

As for us signing another striker, fair enough as long as they are good enough to be picked for the first team and can deliver the goods. For me all the decent sides have striking options as in a number of strikers of differing styles who can combine in different ways to offer alternatives tactically. Anyone who plays the same attack every game soon gets sussed unless they've got wonderful players like Messi or Ronaldo who're just too good to stop altogether - a luxury we're incredibly unlikely to ever enjoy.

Whilst I'm all for attacking intent we need a CB who can actually defend!! That would be my first priority for a signing if we were to make any in January!

Agree Yates not good enough said it all season. Dosent pass forwards and is getting caught out defensively. Vale fan though so fans will look past his weakensess.

I'm happy that Smurf funds the deal but it seems that HE'S decided that we need a striker.
