We've run them close both times at their place and hopefully can go one further on Saturday, no reason why we can't get a point or even a win from there. Defend well and take your chances as I expect pope will do. Hopefully garner gets sent off early otherwise he will score his usual 2 goals against us.

If Preston are unbeaten at home and have won their last four games, it is high time that run came to an end. Keep the same team and let them get used to one another. Forget Garner, forget clean sheets, that's history. Saturday is eleven against eleven. It should be a clash of two good teams. May the better (more determined, more confident) team on the day win.

3-2 yet again ! But to Vale this time.

I remember as im sure other Vale fans do, my first visit to Deepdale in 1987 when they had the plastic pitch in the old division three. Rudgey was in charge and we had Darren Beckford sent off. Ray Walker scored two brilliant direct free kicks (at the time i compared him to Glenn Hoddle)

Preston were struggling at the time after their promotion from division four and after Vale had been two nil up they came back in the last fifteen minutes to win 3-2 the place lifted off its roof and i have to say the Preston comeback that day was probably the turning point for everything they have done since- they never looked back.

It's amazing that as that score was 3-2- the other league game last season ended 3-2 and recently the cup match there, although Vale did win there a few years back on the plastic pitch 5-2 when Nicky Cross scored.

Since i last went there i think the place will be unrecognisable now due to the impressive stand structure- i will alwys remember that playoff game in 1989 when the stand caught fire. John Jeffers played a blinder.

I went to all the above games, some amazing memories. The 5-2 was I think, the first game for their new manager John Beck, a real wideboy who sanded the pitch corners to slow the ball down and the Vale fans chanted 'beck out' which got quite a laugh from the home fans.

I was amazed last week - the ground is absolutely fantastic now and the views are brilliant. I sat along the side as I went with friends who support PNE, this weekend I will go with 'our' fans as my PNE-supporting friends have season tickets (they couldn't use them for JPT). The JPT game was great value at £5 (£1 a goal) though I wont complain if its 0-0 this time but am going to have a couple of quid on that 3-2 Vale win.

still unbeaten at home as well

Vale are good at stopping unbeaten at home records.

Vale for 3 points. Just need lady luck on our side and the ref helping our strikers and wingers, who no doubt will get a battering again from their defence.

The bookies have this game at being high scoring so dont be surpised if this stays tight for most of the game.
