Port Vale 1 - Chesterfield 2 Post Match Comments

Terrible performance again. Tactically shocking. Plan A: lump the ball forward. Plan B: lump the ball forward.

In every game Adams has played against Paul Cook's sides, Accrington and Chesterfield he's been shown up for what he is. A functional lowest division manager.

Morsy should never have been let go. He was one of the reasons we played so well in the first half of our promotion season. Did everything that neither Lines or O'Connor could today and probably for less money.

The midfield is useless. Doesn't work and don't hit the widemen. Too similar. Brown is ok if played in a 3. So would Jennings.

Williamson is brainless and not an instinctive goal scorer. Played better when moved out wide.

Dickinson shouldn't be captain. He can't organise himself never mind others. Always too far forward. Which is fine if he had a delivery into the box. He hasn't.

Where's the fabled Adams fitness? We look weak and slow. When on the ball we look clueless. What do they work on in training? Hoofing it?

Veseli gets worse. He makes Steggles, Holwyn and Stockley look like solid right backs. Utterly inept.

Marshall and Pope were the only 2 to come out with any credit.

Pretty well sums it up. My first game of the season and bar one I'm still looking for all these quality signings.

Tactically inept manager who for the third season running has failed in the basics of sorting his defence out. Dickinson was a total disgrace , the only time he got within yards of his man he fouled. Don't think he made one tackle all game.

Wow that was a shambles, and complete ***** to watch again! Looks like the doncaster away performance was a complete one off because we have been **** in nearly every other match. Firstly the tactics are woeful, there is no plan b and plan a is just hoofing the ball up to pope, its dire. Why is Adams insisting on 4-4-2, it isnt working, Lines and Oconnor in the middle dont work at all, and that daniel looks terrible. At least against County we had a go, and created chances, that didnt happen today and we were easily beaten. Isnt it obvious that teams will pack the midfield when they come to vale, so why do we insist in with the same formation?

Also what is Adams doing in the lead up to the matches, we are shocking out of the blocks, the way we conceded the second goal was embarrassing.

The football itself, it was about as bad as ive seen for a while, I Cant remember 5 consecutive passes going forward, alls we do is pass it back to duffy or mcgivern and it gets lumped forward to pope, who had one of his weaker games.

Johnson 6, couldnt do anything about the goals, poor distribution though.

Veseli 6, Didnt do anything wrong, but isnt a right back.

Duffy 7, Decent

Mcgivern 7, As above.

Dickinson 3, He is the weak link at the back imo and was last season, constantly out of position.

Daniel 4, Not good enough.

Lines 4, Really poor again, dosent look bothered.

Oconnor 5, Did nothing other than give the ball away.

Marshall 9, ran and ran, scored a great goal and was our only decent player.

Pope 6, no decent service but one of his weaker matches.

Williamson 5, didnt even notice him.

I hope we sign another defender and IMO it should be a left back, how many goals has captain fantastic cost us this season? He's never in position and today was woeful.

Regards to them, they looked decent, the big lad up top won every header and roberts is a very good player. Morsy looked great and once again begs the question why did we get rid. Also a mention to that Raglan, he was brilliant when he came on.

Overall a dire performance, no football on show, only player to gain any credit for me is marshall. Long season ahead.

All the rose tinted spectacle brigade that claimed pope to be one of the best headers of the ball in English football last week must never of seen their number 9 (not dishing pope). Gary Roberts and him ripped us a new Ahole. Jones played twice as good as Dickenson and Morsey was head and shoulders above lines and o conner. my judgement is based soley on the 90 minutes iv just whittnesed before I get shot down

Morsy wasn't let go. He was offered a 2 year deal

That said, Morsy was very good today. Seems to have come on loads.

Very poor from the Vale. On another day could have drew, certainly had enough chances. Still, no where near good enough.

Today showed up Adams weaknesses once again -

1) Tactically outwitted by opposition.

2) No defender on bench almost cost us when Duffy got injured.

3) Releasing Sam Morsy, who bossed the game today for Chesterfield.

Is he really this clubs greatest asset?

I genuinely feel sorry for Smurf who has stumped up the cash for a solid squad budget and we appear to have spent unwisely and failed to address weaknesses in al departments.

Could we? They could and should have had a couple more.

Every ball sent forward from them we didn't deal with Robbo isn't great but we needed him to deal with their big lad up front Duffy and McGivern lost to him every time if Micky had done his homework you would have thought he'd known that

Absolutely fuming after that so many things to complain about id give Mickys fanboys a heart attack

We have some hard games coming now we need to kick into gear now,its time for the manager and the players(bar Marshall) to start earning their corn
