Is Pardew a nutter?

But you were talking about the sort of bans players get??

My point was it's inadequate in comparison when you consider what players get for yellows and reds for two yellows and as a senior employee and not a player his punishment should be much more severe than players get

I'm not aware any players get stadium bans and hefty fines for totting up yellow cards??

They don't but they do get game bans which amounts to the same thing.

Players don't get enormous fines though do they? Pardew has a seven game ban, for three of which he is not even allowed in the stadium. In addition to that he has two very large fines imposed on him by his club and the FA.

Paul Ince got a five game stadium ban for physically attacking a match official. Mark Yates, then at Kidderminster, got only a four game touchline ban for head butting an Exeter player. By comparison, I don't think Pardew's punishment can be considered lenient.

Incidentally, at the KC Stadium on Sunday, Gus Poyet pushed one of the Hull stewards in the back without any provocation at all. No action is to be taken. Double standards??

The club fined him £100k which sounds a lot but the taxman would have taken 52% of that and it is only about 3 weeks wages to him. But their prompt action and his apology may have influenced the FA decision makers. I don't feel the penalty is enough. If I was at work and nutter a colleague dismissal and even police involvement would be likely to follow.

They aren't managers but can miss matches just for totting up yellos for technical offences..so his ban doesn't seem so great to me

Not enough IMO..certainly not from Newcastle

I didn't compare his punishment with any other manager I compared it with what players get in terms of match bans for totting up and two yellows. What Ince etc got was inadequate and they should have been sacked too

Know nothing about the Poyet incident so can't comment other than it's not the same as headbutting a player from a rival club

This worse Warren..he nutted an employee from a rival

I don't think this warranted police intervention and to an extent that depends on the Hull player..but that's irrelevant to what i belive Newcastle should have done

I guess some of us will just have to agree to difffer..and wait for the next time

With regard to the fines, the assumption that this is just a drop in the ocean to Pardew is wrong. He is probably the lowest paid manager in the Premier League in terms of his basic pay. His contract is hugely incentivised (which is how they should work in my opinion) and I am reliably informed that if Newcastle were to finish bottom of the league he would actually get less than Micky Adams! If they finish in their current position he will get approx £1.8 million. If you consider what his "take home" pay will be from that, the fines must be close to 20% of his annual dosh - not the two to three weeks wages being mentioned in the press.

What was your response to the Gus Poyet issue, JA? Should Sunderland sack him?

As I posted "Know nothing about the Poyet incident so can't comment other than it's not the same as headbutting a player from a rival club "

Interesting that you know nothing about it - surely an unprovoked attack on a steward by a manager should have been all over the media shouldn't it?

Possibly..difficult to comment without knowng anything about it

Mind you they may just have decided that a manager headbutting a player from a rival club is much more serious and newsworthy.

Could it be that Poyet is a current media darling whereas Newcastle have banned a couple of newspapers from their ground this season thus upsetting the gentlemen of the press? ;)

Could be, that's certainly not beyond the press to react like that. Irrelevant to what Newcastle should have done though

Not a sackable offence but Sunderland should take action..some sort of warning at least..maybe they have just not in public?

The press are a bunch of clowns, you only have to look at our beloved Sentinel.

Interesting they chose not to publicise the Poyet issue widely.
