Cracking result. Loft and Griff were superb. The former win us the game and the latter was the main reason we didnt conceded.

Weather was horrible. Attendance was embarrassing. To anyone who could have gone, could have afforded to go, but chose not too after seeing the starting line up (and there were afew here) hang your heads in shame. Don't you dare call yourself a Vale fan.

Don't be such a spoil sport Georgie pie, Griff is **** and one decent performance won't fool many.

Dan Jones was great going forward but was clueless positional wise, still a massive positive but it's certainly something that needs addressing if he is to play there again.

Loft was unbelievable.

Griff was classic Griff. He's been a massive scapegoat on here but tonight shows exactly what happens when he is having a good game. And in my opinion his positive performances outway his negative ones quite clearly.

How do you come up with that then?

Griff has been dog ***** in pretty much most of the game's he has played in.

On a few occasions like tonight he has played well and done his job....it's not much to ask for though is it...do your job.

It's a lot more than one game and you know it. He has 3 OVF MOTM awards, was excellent against Brighton, Tranmere, Walsall and tonight. So that's 7 games at least he's excelled in. I know he has had some absolute stinkers recently, but who hasn't? On tonight's form he's well worth his place in our squad.

The fact remains that along with Robertson he has contributed to our downfall more than any other player by a country mile.

The games you mention I wouldn't say he excelled in, he did his job to an acceptable standard as you would expect of a DM.

But on too many occasions has he gone missing, given the ball away, given away free kicks and the number of times he has lost his man and they've gone through to score...jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez

A large number of fans didn't rate him in league two and definately didn't want to re-sign him.

Griff had his best game for ages. He did what he is good at, winning the ball and breaking up play. Grimmer provides more pace in the centre which we have been missing for years and Davis did very well. I thought Hugill and Pope did well playing upfront together as well. Loft was inspirational like he always is. We need to sign him up ASAP.

I don't understand people saying they don't know how we kept a clean sheet. I thought Colchester were decent, came on the back of some of the best form in the division and we defended excellently. Credit where it's due. Lofty has to get motm but as others have said, special mentions due for Griff and Davis. Interestingly, everyone has been creaming over Grimmer who has been average when I've seen him but had his best game at Centre Half tonight for me and looked very solid defensively for the first time in my opinion. That defensive line up has bought itself four shirts for Saturday for me, really enjoyable defensive display after a couple of recent mares. Robbo beware, tonight you're nowhere near the first team!

Hugely disappointing that so many fans stayed away. We lost on Saturday but that's football. If you don't stick with your team through thick and thin can you really enjoy the successes when they come along.

Thought Joe was a class act at centre back and I think we have a potentially top player there. Some of his defending was simply superb.

Thought Adam Yates did well on his return too.

Chris Lines very average. Lofty and Pope had good games but once again I still don't see why people are raving over Hugill. He isn't mobile, doesn't win headers, no pace. But he gets picked soMA must see something I don't.

Tony Naylor was at the game - now e would have been a great partner for Pope.
